Houston
Equal
Rights
Ordinance

Basically tries to codify several state and federal discrimination protection laws into a city law as well.

Except originally the city just passed it and never put it up for a vote by the citizens.

Then when challenged by many subpoenad pastors notes to try to quash the foes. Then when overturned at the state level and forced to put it on the ballot tried to use ambiguous language to confuse the voting public.

A bunch of horse poop anyway you want to slice it.

More of an ANTI hero.

Cause it has been in the news the sat, what two years.

Initially put in place by fiat.

Now the voters get their say.

HERO is the prop by gay mayor to allow crossgenders access to bathroom facilities.

Please don't shortchange what this ordinance did by just citing the most publicized aspect. This bill enacts the entire range of homo-oppressive sexual orientation mandates. Turning it back did more than protect people from pervs in public bathrooms, it keeps homos from being deemed a special class across the board in this city.

36 pages of code. They tried to mask their agenda by saying that it protected a whole lot of people besides homosexualists. Except even the Houston Comical acknowledges that those other groups are all already protected by Federal laws.

Thanks, I was just harassing the OP. But no, I had never heard of it until tonight although I’m on FR all the time.

Whoever proposed such a thing as allowing genetically male beings into female public bathrooms should be caned until they openly, publicly on camera say they are sorry and will NEVER propose such a thing again. Someone has got to step and stop this filth of morals.

Texans know in our minds that Texas is not the center of the universe, but our hearts often forget. Humor us, please. You may need a reference some day to cross the Red River.

Thank you! I know this is just one battle won & we may yet lose the war, but I’ll sleep well tonight & cross that bridge when it burns down.

Yep.

Quote.

It’s not just girls, it’s a war on decency and sanity too. From the New York Times

Federal education authorities, staking out their firmest position yet on an increasingly contentious issue, found Monday that an Illinois school district violated anti-discrimination laws when it did not allow a transgender student who identifies as a girl and participates on a girls’ sports team to change and shower in the girls’ locker room without restrictions.

Education officials said the decision was the first of its kind on the rights of transgender students, which are emerging as a new cultural battleground in public schools across the country. In previous cases, federal officials had been able to reach settlements giving access to transgender students in similar situations. But in this instance, the school district in Palatine, Ill., has not yet come to an agreement, prompting the federal government to threaten sanctions. The district, northwest of Chicago, has indicated a willingness to fight for its policy in court.

The Education Department gave 30 days to the officials of Township High School District 211 to reach a solution or face enforcement, which could include administrative law proceedings or a Justice Department court action. The district could lose some or all of its Title IX funding.

[”And now a partial score, Miami 97.”

Is that a final partial score, or a partial partial score?]

UPDATE: Final Partial Score, Miami 101. That was the game.

And now a partial score, Miami 97.

H/T to you for the (early, clean) George Carlin bit reference.

Whew!   Glad that one's over and in the books now!  (Who would have predicted that partial score?)

I had to listen to the radio, paying close attention, and turned it off as quickly as I heard the Miami score! (to keep it partial)

;)
