Kiss of Death: Billionaire Who Funded Same-Sex Marriage Endorses Rubio
Breitbart ^ | November 2, 2015 | Austin Ruse

Posted on 11/03/2015 4:36:22 AM PST by don-o

The endorsement of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) by pro-same-sex marriage hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer just might turn social conservatives away from Rubio and toward someone like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-T) . This might be good for Rubio’s bank account but could be nettlesome for him in the run up to a primary season dominated in part by social conservatives.

“It gives me pause, because Singer has a deep commitment to flipping the Republican party on gay marriage, and he undoubtedly knows more than we do about what Rubio is saying privately about the First Amendment Defense Act,” said influential activist and thinker Maggie Gallagher of the American Principles Project and the Pulse2016 blog.

Gallagher told Breitbart News, “We shouldn’t make Rubio responsible for all his donors’ views. But we should be pressing Rubio for a commitment to passing the First Amendment Defense Act in the first 100 days in office.”

I wasn’t voting for Rubio anyway. He is a good talker but I do not agree with him on some key issues.

One more snip:

Singer is the founder of a super-PAC that has the express purpose of turning the GOP pro-gay marriage. American Unity PAC's sole purpose was to encourage GOP support for gay marriage, according to columnist Frank Bruni in the New York Times,in part by helping them to feel financially shielded from any blowback from well-funded groups that oppose it.

what we need to do is remind people that the supreme court DOES NOT MAKE LAW

They may not have liked that one law in that one state, but that should not make THE OPPOSITE POSITION legal, new law, in all 50 states.

That state should continue to enforce the original law and ignore the supreme court as this is NOT ONE OF THE ENUMERATED POWERS of the federal government

The Supreme Court just ruled that concealed carry was OK in one state (overturned a ruling against it, I think) so NOW DOES THAT MEAN CONCEALED CARRY IS ALSO "THE LAW OF THE LAND" ??

The same way the declared gay marriage "the law of the land"?

You know, I thought I recognized that name.

Norman Braman is a Miami billionaire who also backed Rubio, but AFAIK Mr. Braman is NOT a liberal.

Sorry to see Rubio associated with Singer.

And what about his alleged appeal to Hispanics? Don’t they trend more to traditional marriage?

Rubio turned his back on the conservative base as soon as they put him in office.

I have no use for him.

Their organization is called "the Race", it's not called "the Values".

Is it the job of the candidate to police the beliefs of all his donors?

It's easy to forget that the Republican Party was never "conservative" at all. At its core, it's a party of big-government globalists who have no interest in upholding Constitutional law and traditional values. You can trace this all the way back to Abraham Lincoln's day.

The last 35 years have been an anomaly in this, because the conservative Democratic base that was rooted in the South and West was abandoned by their own party and had nowhere else to go but the GOP.

At least we can put all that nonsense to rest now. I have said many times here that I am a conservative, not a Republican ... and I've never had ANY party affiliation.

No. In the U.S. today it's the job of the candidate to do the bidding of his donors.

Hence, the importance of what the donors' beliefs are.

What an odd question. Trump has already explained how the money game works. Did you happen to hear that?

Endorsements are one thing, but when there is money involved, you better believe it matters. Those donors want something in return.

Of course not, for the multitudes of small <$5000 small fry donors. But, for the giant billionaire donor... what does that donor know about Rubio that I do not?

Very good point sir....and yes, Hispanics do, especially those who would even consider voting for any R. So I figure Rubio will lose some conservative and some Hispanic support - but he may siphon off more from Jeb, Christie, Kasich, etc, as he moves fully 100% into the "establishment lane" of the primary race.

*****************************************

What he knows and what we DO know is that the “giant billionaire donor” will demand a return on his ‘investment’ .... and he’ll get it. His agenda is front & center so there’s no doubt where that ‘ROI’ will be. Marco shot his wad with me a long time ago.
