Funny headline. Trump is 2:1 over Rubio but Rubio is “exploding.”

I’m not “backing” anyone. Simply commenting on the story. Right now, Trump is my guy because he’s all we have right now. But there’s a long way to go.

At the end of the day, come November, I’m “ABC” in a big big way.

What a terribly-written story. How in the hell are you going to write about “key early state” in your headline, and then five paragraphs in, still not mention what state you’re talking about?

Nobody cares about New Hampshire. They are generally out of step with the conservative states in the Nation.

Iowa
2008: Mike Huckabee
2012: Rick Santorum

New Hampshire
2008: John McCain
2012: Mitt Romney

You tell me which early state picked primary winners, and which one chose losers.

I can’t help thinking this whole “race” is just to determine who the crony/elites will decide to back. Once that person is chosen, all the also rans will be told to coalesce behind that candidate. Any delegates they’ve won will go to that candidate. All the elite super delegates will go to that candidate and on any subsequent ballot beyond the first, all delegates will be instructed to vote for that candidate. Since the GOParty people own most of the delegate slates, even some so called Trump supporters can be expected to jump ship for the sake of “party unity.” That is the reason they had to have Trump promise to back the eventual party choice and not go third party. It is the nightmare that keeps coming to my mind.

They don’t care about us or who we want. They can’t out vote us but they can control the process/rules and they can manipulate them to their hearts’ desire.

“I don’t know why, but if I were laying a bet in Vegas, my gut tells me Rubio will end up the GOP nominee”

If he suits the GOPe (and he does), his candidacy would be like Romney’s. Too many conservatives will stay home I’m afraid. So, I hope he is not the nominee.

Since there are others in the race far more compelling than he, I doubt it will happen. Unless GOPe dirty tricks prevail, I believe the candidate will be Trump and he will choose Cruz as VP.

Cruz would take it if he could be assured he could work on certain pet projects and have a substantial hand in policy decisions.

I Believe that a lot of Marco Rubio’s appeal is the same as was for John Kennedy. He is young, good looking, and can articulate his point - IOW, he has a bit of the “it” factor. We are living in a time when reality competitions dominate television and the internet. The fact that his wife is an ex-Dolphin’s cheerleader doesn’t hurt him with his fan base either. Unfortunately for people who do pay attention to the issues and understand consequences of their choices, the people who would vote for him cast ballots that are every bit as valid on election day as those they cancel out.

As far as Donald Trump is concerned, my observation is that the reality celebrity factor cannot be ignored in his popularity either. That he has said some things people agree with is another part for sure but the outspokenness of his character draws attention in the same way it does for Bernie Sanders. I am certain that at least half of the those showing a preference in polls for either of these two gentlemen have not thought very deeply about them but just like their style.

As for me, I’d vote for Mr. Trump for President if I were living on the island of Sicily. You don’t get very far in real estate in NYC without making friends. I just plain don’t trust him. (not that most politicians aren’t in some way connected to shady characters)

Iowa is also out of step.

New Hampshire 2008: John McCain 2012: Mitt Romney

It is no great shock that New Hampshire picks Rinos. That is exactly my point in saying they are out of step.

You tell me which early state picked primary winners, and which one chose losers.

Iowa and New Hampshire are more or less opposites. New Hampshire can be counted on to pick the most Establishment-e or Rino-e candidates. Iowa can be counted on to pick the most Religiously/Culturally conservative.

So far as New Hampshire getting the primary winners right, they certainly got general election winners wrong. Romney only won the primary because of that bullsh*t the Virginia GOP-e pulled in their primary.

John McCain was just the best of what was left after Fred Thompson and Rick Perry dropped out. Romney ran that year too, but McCain was seen as being less moderate than was Romney.

The progressives can live with Marco, b/c they know that his insane immigration views will destroy America. That’s all that matters to them.

They know that Bush is finished, so Marco is the relief pitcher who has been warming up in the establishment bullpen.

Enough excitement about the polls. They represent the answers of a thousand or so individuals who happened to pick up the phone when they were doing something else. The answers are based on their fleeting, shallow impressions of the candidate, and not on well-thought-out, reasoned evaluations of the candidates.

Like it or not, Rubio is most likely to win, if I was in Vegas, that’s where I would put my money. The smaller campaigns are beginning to sputter, and their support will not go to Trump, his negatives, among Republicans, remain high. Personally, in my opinion only Bush and Kasich are worse choices than Trump (no, I’m not including the dwarfs like Loopy Lindsay, Gilmore and Pataki). As candidates drop out, Rubio will be the big winner, bringing the whole apparatus to a 3-way race between Trump, Carson and Rubio.

Take some Zantac and stop listening to your stomach.

The only time to listen to your stomach is when it tells you it is time to eat and maybe what to eat.

Excellent points.

Rubio reminds me of a swarmy and humorless Desi Arnaz, and I would never vote for either one of them.

Jeb’s elite GOPe masters have told Jeb to make his little amigo look like a winner. Jeb’s masters know that he is toast.
