Davey Jones takes in another ship.
They need to check the contents of a couple of the containers to make sure that this is not a “Wreck of the Mary Deare” type of situation
Part of the mystery is why, after the engines failed, the captain did not release the anchor. Even without touching bottom, a deployed anchor and chain will help to stabilize a ship and point it into the wind, helping prevent it from being hit broadside by the full force of the sea.
Plotted on the charts this is SW of San Salvador island. Off San Salvador to the East it is 16 fathoms then 510 and then 2510 within about 20 miles or so.
The last known coordinates given, show 2640 fathoms or 15,840 feet. That is, at that depth marking (if that is the location) exactly 3 miles. Containers on board crushed and most likely everything else.
This entire episode makes no sense, unless the owners/captain thought they could outrun a hurricane instead of dodging one they could clearly see.
