These (barrel) bombs are at the root of Syria’s massive refugee crisis

Bashar al-Assad denies dropping barrel bombs in Syria, but evidence overwhelmingly says otherwise.

The use of barrel bombs has fueled the mass exodus of refugees from the country.

Videos continue to be posted to YouTube showing helicopters in Syria dropping what appear to be the unpredictable weapon.

Human rights group Amnesty International found that more than 3,000 civilian deaths between January 2014 and March 2015 occurred in Aleppo from barrel bombs.

The makeshift weapon is an oil drum filled with explosives, fuel, and metal fragments. They are dropped haphazardly from helicopters with little control for targeting.

The United Nations previously called for a ban on barrel bombs in a 2014 resolution. This week, a new draft resolution is circulating around the Security Council. The new draft opposed by Russia and supported by France, Britain and Spain, calls for a ban on barrel bombs in Syria that would be militarily enforceable by the UN.

Oh if not for The Dreaded Barrel Bombs then there`d be NO refugees, huh..?

Ridiculous, that bomb variant has been in popular Syrian use for over three years.

This has the aim of taking scrutiny off of the role of George Soros, et al.

Let’s say half of those deaths are innocent civilians. That’s fewer deaths than the gang violence in the US and that led to the mohammaden invasion of Europe?

What a crock. Beheadings?crucifixion?selling women and children into slavery?summary executions?Burning people alive?drowning people?forced adherence to a 8th century laws?

But it must be the barrel bombs.

The Barrel Bombs are the result of the rebels hitting innocent civilians with mortars. The Syrians are smart enough to know that if mortars are being shot off from a building, it is wise to get as far away from it as fast as you can. It will soon be hit with a barrel bomb. The Syrian rebels are not the good guys.

I can see it now...a UN commission...hundreds of $100k a year salaried people who go around and talk up a bilateral commission to stop barrel bombs. Forty-four countries will go and sign some paper to state they will never use barrel bombs....the US will decline to sign it because they think they might one day have to use the same 1940’s technology.

From what I understand, the Syrian Military ran out of regular bombs so they’re focused to come up with makeshift ones.

...ran out of regular bombs...

Exactly right.

If barrel bombs were more effective than standard bombs, they would be the weapon of choice for every air force on earth. The truth is they are home-made makeshift versions of bombs used when funding runs out.

For the black Africans it is simply the legacy of American slavery that is driving them out of their homelands. For the Afghans I think it is running away from homophobia and rampant Christian bigotry.

The game is played like this, whatever weapon is working against the losing side, the losing side attempts to have that weapon banned. It wouldn’t matter what the weapon was. It could be pig-fat dipped Nurf darts. If they caused the person so hit to give up the fight, there would be a UN resolution to ban them. They would be blamed for (insert current problem the West cares about here.)

The UN has a military? Or do they just deputize the US to enforce their foolishness. When is the last time any of those slackers ever enforced anything militarily without using American blood and treasure. Let Merkel do it.
