While I appreciate Trump’s efforts to craft these policies and put them out there, it is disconcerting to watch folks ignore them to trash him.

His Second Amendment Policy might just as well not have been released for all the good it does him on F.R. Almost daily I read folks state his 2nd Amendment stance is very Leftist in nature.

It probably won’t be long before I read how bad he is on military matters too.

I like what the guy is pushing in public. It’s the same things Reagan pushed. Who knew?

But that’s not trump’s proposal. And there’s good reason why not.

Participation by healthcare providers in Medicare is voluntary. Saying a veteran can go to any health care provider would be a little bit of an empty promise. What if the healthcare provider doesn’t want to take veterans and mess with reimbursement from the VA.

As well, healthcare is changing in the US. People are starting to “color outside the lines.” More doctors are going to some kind of cash basis. Or concierge medicine. Or hybrid practices.

My primary care physician is a good example. He takes my insurance, but I also pay him directly o n an annual basis to be in his practice. His practice is limited to 600 patients. But he spent two hours with me the first time I saw him, and he and his staff arrange when I need to see another specialist.

I doubt he would take VA patients at all. Would you force him?

In the current system the only ones who get bonuses are the administrators that are part of the Federal Executive Service. They spend a lot of their working time padding stats to make sure they get them too. Providers just don’t get bonuses no matter what.

The VA can’t be reformed. It’s too rotten at its core. It just needs to be disestablished, with veterans health care handled through the private system using federal vouchers.

No, I don’t believe in that. However, I would like the freedom to ask him and assure payment from the VA at the same time. In a situation such as yours, I think I’d pay the difference. The doc might or might not bite on that. That said, I’d like to know that my ‘VA credits” would go where I direct them and not where the bureaucracy says I should direct them.

It’s pretty much that way with the education credits. I was able to pick whichever college or career I wanted.

There ya go...Doctors everywhere should be given incentives to treat veterans, instead of opting out due to corrupt government bureaucracy and lower payments.

It’s outrageous and should have never been allowed to reach the point we have! All brought to us by the DC crowns of corruption and disciples of deceit.

1. Get rid of DeathCare by obama. Keep the emphasis of pricing insurance by individual.

2. Move swiftly but carefully to consumer-driven market-oriented reforms.

3. Encourage high deductible catastrophic insurance similar to the older major medical insurance of the past, coupled with pay-out-of-own-pocket for minor stuff. Consider limiting or phasing out deductibility of health insurance premiums,

4. Allow generous HSA accounts to ease the transition.

5. Provide some subsidies for poor people to help them with HSAs.

6. Use technology to help drive cost and quality competition, hoping to foster better, more efficient, and ultimately cheaper clinical practices.

7. Reintegrate Medicare and VA back into the mainstream to provide more REAL choice for the see populations rather than empty promises.

We should have this already.

My doctor would never entangle himself with the VA.

I appreciate trump’s try even though I won’t vote for him. It’s inadequate, but it’s a try.

The difficulty is that the problem is more general and there needs to be a compreventive solution.

But I’ll give credit for the attempt. I doubt it will have much of an effect, but I appreciate t h at he’s thinking about veterans.

Not to quibble, but:

all veterans eligible for VA health care can bring their veteran’s ID card to any doctor or care facility that accepts Medicare to get the care they need immediately."

Presumably includes DD214... And,
the statement that today's issues have never been encountered before is false; most of the same issues were simply denied or ignored after Vietnam.

It'd also be worthwhile go screen records just a tad - I know three VA enrollees who never left CONUS, never hefted a weapon after basic, and can afford insurance, and another who can't afford Obamacare and can't get PTSD or mesothelomia recognized.

What no one wants to admit about the VA is that so many of us simply refuse to use it based on actual experience.
