20, 30 years ago high schoolers and college students did those jobs. And people that wanted to move up in the industry and just needed a foot in the door.

Corrupt businessmen are using illegal immigrants as modern day slaves because they don’t have to pay them as well.

I managed a restaurant 20 years ago and you are correct.

We had college students for the wait staff, bar tenders, dish room staff, hosts, and kitchen helpers.

We rarely had any issues with them. They came to work when they were supposed to, worked hard, and made enough money to pay their expenses for school.

When they graduated and moved on they even found their own replacements.

20, 30 years ago I was in the hotel business and I can assure you that INS raids on the workplace (hotel & restaurant) were common.

Getting caught was a temporary setback and most were on the job the next day. It was a daily experience considered a nuisance. I can’t remember a single restaurant that closed because of illegals weren’t available. They and students were plentiful.
