Nope, it’s a real word.

I had to go to the dictionary for “oleaginous”. As you said, that is a word I have never heard in conversation (or to my recollection, seen in print either).

Steyn must be college “edumicated” (channeling my inner Bush).

First time I ever saw that word in print, it was Ann Coulter talking about Bill Clinton. I thought the word was absolutely perfect and on the mark. Just another example of how great english is. There’s a word to describe just about anything.
