New Sanctuary City law could force Charlotte to change civil rights resolution

CHARLOTTE, NC - Gov. Pat McCrory's signing Wednesday of a bill that would prohibit N.C. municipalities from becoming "sanctuary cities" may force Charlotte to remove language in a civil rights resolution that prohibits police from asking about immigration status.

House Bill 318, the Protect North Carolina Workers Act, could also affect Charlotte's efforts to create a municipal ID. Under the new law, municipalities can create their own IDs, but they cannot be recognized by local governments. One exception is that police can use the ID if it's the only way to identify someone.

Charlotte council members support a Charlotte-specific ID for undocumented immigrants, and Democratic mayoral candidate Jennifer Roberts also backs them. Republican Edwin Peacock opposes them.

The prospect of a Charlotte ID now appears unlikely.

NO SANCTUARY CITIES !

Any municipal administrations that choose to go that route should have their city administrators worrying about will be visiting them at their homes and at what times of day , or night .

There has to be a cost for this subversion of our country
and U.S. law . They break it , they pay .

If cities refuse to obey Federal Laws on immigration what’s to stop them from ignoring State mandated laws?

Pick a law or two you hate and just don’t follow it... you can cite the Obama and the DOJ who selectively ignore laws they don’t like as precedence.

"They break it, they pay"

They have to pay either way.

Its a federal law and the feds are supposed to enforce it, not local taxpayers. It was Bush and the GOP who refused to hire more ICE agents, even though they doubled the number of border patrol agents. Instead, they pushed this off on the locals. Because the illegals congregate in certain places, these places have substantial costs to enforce federal law.

It was policy in the US since the great Irish immigration in the 19th century that local leos don't enforce immigration laws, because if they do, immigrants don't co-operate with the leos. No illegal will call the police to report a crime or voluntarily provide evidence if he is going to get deported for it.

It is also illegal for local leos to hold prisoners without charges, and commonly get sued if they do. So, if ICE wants one of these prisoners, they need to go pick them up, asap.

If this is what you and the GOP want to do, then you need to come up with some money to do it.

If King Donald the Great wants to deport all the illegals, he will need Congress to appropriate vast sums of money to do it.

I’m counting down the days until Obama has his DOJ sue NC to stop them from enforcing federal immigration law. They’ve done it before.
