Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn’t the purpose of a political party be to ADVANCE a given set of political goals. Now, I understand that the mechanics of governing do always give a party the power to achieve these goals, but hell’s bells, shouldn’t they at least TRY? Certainly they should not be FACILITATING the opposition party. Why else have parties?
(do NOT always)
In the minds of members of the Uniparty, Democrats and Republicans are not opponents of each other ... they both are opponents of "outsiders" - Tea Party et. al.
Don't worry. We don't.
Why are we raising the debt limit again? That needs to stop. Instead, we should have demanded enough spending cuts to make further borrowing unnecessary. Phasing out Social Security should be a top priority, as should totally eliminating the welfare state. If the latter requires us to wall off the inner cities, I’d be in favor of spending money on that.
-- DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, speech, Mar. 6, 1956"If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power."
