House Republicans formally nominated Rep. Paul Ryan for speaker Wednesday, looking to him to help unify the party after a tumultuous period -- though defections in the ranks could preview some last-minute drama on the House floor.

Paul Ryan is one of several nominees. Admittedly, he probably already has an overwhelming advantage going into the vote, but it is still a little dicey...

Ryan only got 200 votes in the Republican caucus, 18 less than what is needed in the full House to become speaker. If those votes do not change, his anointing as speaker will be subject to some turbulence.

Might as well have kept Boner. Ryan is younger and better looking, but other than that, I don’t see much difference.
Ryan, a stooge for Tom Donahue and the US Chamber of Commerce. Noticed Ryan’s chief of staff is David Hoppe who was/is a lobbyist for the US Chamber of Commerce, which has pledged monies to destroy the ‘radical’ conservative base(Tea Party types) of the Republican Party.
I think the republicrat party is now doomed. They stand for absolutely nothing conservative. I will not enumerate . You can fill in that blank but if Trump does not win the nomination ,it is my estimate that the election will make Barry Goldwater look great. They will lose 20 million votes in the conservative ranks because the other candidates are more of the same with the exception of Cruz and Paul. They have no substance and they have no willingness to fight for this Nation or its working people. Ryan is no damned good . Boehner was the worst in US history.

Let’s see how strongly our presidential candidates come out against this monstrosity. Strong opposition should help make this less than a slam dunk. It’s sad, but that is our only hope. The so called freedom caucus sold us out by supporting Ryan for speaker. This was clearly pre-arranged by boehner with Ryan. It’s sad that we don’t have a voice in government and the spending is wide open.
