Humans have been around a whole lot longer than most scientists realize.
That's what I'm thinking when I watch old PR films about the space program and the atomic energy program that were made back in the 1950s and early 1960s.
There's lots of them on YouTube. You can get a glimpse of a nation that was on top of its game.
Leading archaeologists have been denouncing his theories for decades. He has been compared to The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown and dismissed as a pseudo archaeologist or “Pyramidiot”. The organisation for whom he is delivering a talk on October 15 - the “mind, body and spirit company” Alternatives - also hosts events about ghosts, clairvoyance and the paranormal.
Hancock has no formal qualifications in archaeology, history or astronomy. His long-standing interest in hallucinogenic drugs “they are something that society really needs” has not enhanced his reputation either.
This guy sounds like he knows about Velikovsky.
I remember Eric von Daniken and his stories about ancient astronauts. This is just another such effort, a generation later.

What the article fails to note is that Graham Hancock is a huckster who basically just repackaged theories from other occultists, like Edgar Cayce and the Freemasons and sold it as his own creation.
All that stuff about a lost civilization, destroyed in a cataclysm, who imparted knowledge to more primitive humans, the tablets hidden beneath the Sphinx, and even the date he proposes for the cataclysm, came from other people, they are not his ideas even.
I wonder what they will write about the U.S. in a hundred years, when it’s been replaced by the Affiliated Islamic Republics of Dearbornistan and the Nation of Aztlan.
I think people will believe a lot of things as long as they are not required to believe what has been written in the Bible. God has told us and warned us. The book of Daniel has been railed at by liberals because it so accurately predicted future events (and still does) so much that they want to date it to a later date than the time period in which it was written. Future events will give testimony to its truth, accuracy and authenticity - along with the rest of scripture.
You don’t want to know.
The main problem is in archaeological dating which has many issues discussed by Prof. Gunnar Heinsohn on his website. Google will get you there. Dating schematics are often over inflated by the assumption that the levels of C14 and other dating markers have remained constant through all history. The Christian revisionism community has much solid info on this, tho their overall conclusions are biased by Biblical interpretations.
There was a comet strike at some point during historic times and the destruction it wreaked is memorialized in all the world’s religions and mythical descriptions of the cosmos before and after “The Fall”. Archaeologists are being dragged kicking and screaming to the catastrophist interpretation. Much info online about this comet caused cataclysm but start here:

In my humble opinion, despite creationists best attempts, and attempts by the many bible redactors who edited the early stories in Genesis, there is no telling just how far back in earth years were the “ancient” ages in human history. I leave the facts of it as a question only G-d knows the answer to and one that if G-d thinks we all should know it, then G-d will make sure we do.
I have read a number of Hancock’s books. I accept his premise that humans have been around, and even “civilized” longer than folks in the last 2,000 years believed/believe to be the case, but beyond that premise I have always found Hancock to often be a speculator on many facts of it all. Take the premise for whatever you want, but have some skepticism for the details no matter what you think of the premise.
