He might also have cleared the room of other students, for safety reasons, and then sat there along with one or two school admins waiting the girl out, and waiting for a parent to be called out of work (big leap here) and show up themselves to pull the girl from the room..... There are problems with this approach also. (It creates precedent, etc.)
