This is much worse then simple waste.
This is the very essence of totalitarianism.
It is no business of government to change human nature, even if it were possible.
The description from the NIH project page is literally insane. It is dripping with references to bullying and how few escape it’s effects and the root cause of bullying is... disgust of course!
From what I infer if we can just coerce people somehow to not feel disgust, society can eliminate bullying and finally evolve in a positive, progressive way!
(However encouraging people to partake in even slightly less disgusting behavior and dress is I guess not an option.)
This is exactly the kind of study that a totalitarian states do.
And it is also something a Republic has no use for.
