John Sununu, a former New Hampshire governor and longtime GOP hand, is one of the few who is willing to admit just how clueless he is about, among other things, the rise of Donald Trump and Ben Carson. Here's what Sununu told the New York Times's Jonathan Martin:
I have no feeling for the electorate anymore. It is not responding the way it used to. Their priorities are so different that if I tried to analyze it Id be making it up.
Sununu is far from alone in GOP ranks. Think about how most establishment Republicans saw this race playing out: Jeb Bush gets in, raises a ton of money and blows everyone else out of the water. By this point in the year, most of the consultant class would have predicted that Bush would be solidly in first place in most of the early states and simply polishing his policy résumé for the general-election fight to come.
For months and months and months, establishment types have counseled patience. Trump (and others) would go up and would come down, Jeb would be steady. That worked right up until Jeb raised $7 million less than Carson over the past three months and had to cut staff to stay afloat. And, oh yeah, Bush (and almost every other "establishment" candidate) is in single digits in polls in every early state that matters.

Leave it to the WP. This animal looks ill.
Probably the Post staff projecting...
” most of the consultant class would have predicted that Bush would be solidly in first place”
Consultants get paid to lie. Sometimes it backfires, eh Rove ?
The GOP Establishment is clueless. As usual.
That’s why we’re done with them.
“The revolution is on. “
Could be. It could just be.
Well,..... Souter didn’t work out so well all those years ago.
“I have no feeling for the electorate anymore. It is not responding the way it used to. Their priorities are so different that if I tried to analyze it Id be making it up.”
It is really easy to figure out if you try Johnny.
AFter years and years of being screwed like a tied up Goat it kind of wears on you. Finally one day the goat kicks you right in the balls.
I can think of about 18 Trillion reasons he SHOULD be able to understand.
True willful ignorance is explained by the fact Sununu believes it is WE who have changed. NO.. its the old fashioned died in the wool republicans who have become like the democrats and have given obama everything he wanted. No fight for the people.. just live in their cocoon and believe alls okay with their world.. while the country is losing ground every day... and the people are hurting all over this land.
Chris Cilleeza isn’t actually the person to go to for analysis of Republicans.
The tied up goat. Classic.
The game is, join the party, get elected to office under guise of caring about the country, then protect the party and to hell with the country.
Those bull$hit Rules of Engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't help either.
They just refuse to look and listen to what we have kept saying to our congress critters.
They promise, we elect them, they give us the middle finger, rinse and repeat...at some point, we have had enuff, and we have reached that point.
And THAT sums it up.
He’s smarter than most. He knows what he doesn’t know.
And we will continue to seethe white-hot with anger until you kick some Commie Rat A$$ and roll back their march toward Marxism . . . you have already allowed them to attain socialism.
Is that so hard to understand???? . . . that we believe socialism/ Marxism is evil and want no part of it????
Were we fighting your ideological clones in Korea and Vietnam, John???
Thats it. There really isn’t much more to it.
The GOP must have something to offer other than , ‘Mrs Clinton is a liar’, ‘we need to invade more countries to succeed without a tax or a draft’, ‘here is our 17 best to offer’, ‘let’s have another bunch of jobs exported’, ‘we need to increase the spread between the rich and the poor by lowering the tax on the rich’.
Funny, I’ve been telling pollsters for 15 years that my primary concern is illegal immigration. Now they think it’s odd that someone comes along who is determined to stop it and I support them?
