hmm... lemme see if i get this:
there are already millions more people with bachelor’s degrees than there are jobs requiring bachelor’s degrees...so let’s flood the market with even more...huh?
oh wait a minnit! it does make some kinda sense - you’ll have all these underemployed bachelor’s degrees taking whatever job they can get, say flipping burgers...then complaining about having a college degree and not being able to live...therefore we need the 15/hr minimum wage.
there’s a degree of sense in there, eh?
People have been told that the only way to a middle class future is a college degree. When they find out they have been lied to, they get very angry.
Same way with social security.
The GOP, and honestly the Fedgov in general, has to address this. They seized the loan market, and made it impossible to go bankrupt on that debt. They are already paying for most of the college debt.
Just like social security, there is no painless way out of this mess.
If all those who wind up with a college degree for free succeed in having their burger flipping wage raised to fifteen dollars an hour they will still be far worse off than those who finished high school in 1963 with a better education than the current college graduate and went to work for the then new minimum wage rate of $1.25 an hour which bought more at the grocery store or in rent than $15.00 an hour buys now. They will have spent four more years in school for less education and lower pay. Please, let no one quote me the official CPI figures saying that $15.00 now is more than $1.25 was in 1963. Those figures are almost as ridiculous as this load of mathematically impossible absurdity, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUd-slJc-GY
