The People, through the States, have never authorized Congress to ‘hand-off’ their money minting functions to any non-govt entity, nor authorize anything BUT gold/silver to be legal tender.

A lot of places won’t take cash, like for apartment rentals. They don’t want you walking in to pay your $1000 rent with 10 $100’s. Multiply that by 300 apartments on the first of the month and you’ve got a problem just waiting to happen.
Of course, you agree not to pay in cash when you sign your lease.
