Doughty, if I’m not mistaken you were one of the border patriots here back when the Bush gang were getting people zotted for objecting to Dubya’s attempted amnesty.

Norm correctly pointed to something in the law called the Fighting Words doctrine.

“The fighting words doctrine, in United States constitutional law, is a limitation to freedom of speech as protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

“In 1942, the U.S. Supreme Court established the doctrine by a 9–0 decision in Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire. It held that “insulting or ‘fighting words,’ those that by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace” are among the “well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech the prevention and punishment of [which] … have never been thought to raise any constitutional problem.”

dignity - The quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect.

There is no dignity in invading a neighboring country. I have no esteem or respect for illegal aliens. They deserve no equality with US citizens & legal immigrants. They are law breakers - criminals, deserving only prison & deportation.

Yeah, I can see how that "equality" sign would provoke a fight-or-flight response.

Everyone is entitled to free speech; no one is entitled to an audience.

I can go either way.

What you suggest would send a useful message.

What the crowd did also sends a useful message.

The great difference between the right and the left, of course, is that the left is inside seeking to disrupt. The right would be protesting OUTSIDE.

No one is required to tolerate rude behavior, or to tolerate a political hijacking.

I saw some people interviewed, and what always sticks out in my mind is the Hispanic woman looking 40ish, with gleaming eyes and declaring that she loves Mr. Trump.

It is probably an even bigger shock to Jebby.

That’s right. From my first day on this forum I have advanced the theory we needed to get our borders under control and send the illegals back home.

My children couldn’t attend our local public school because over half the day was spent teaching the other students English. My kids sat there reading, being totally ignored.

My kids were one of the few White kids on the playground at recess and were focused on because they weren’t Hispanic.

Illegal immigration hit home with our family like it didn’t much of the rest of the nation.

I’ve seen what illegal immigration does to a community, city, region, and state.

When someone talks about me being soft on the subject, I laugh.

Thanks for your note.

You were voicing the same concerns too, and I always appreciated it.

This will be seen by many Hispanics that are confused about Trump. They hear him address these folks head on, and they get the opportunity say to themselves, “Hey that makes sense. I’d don’t have a problem with that.”

I think he's already getting that support, the message will be spreading like wildfire among the disillusioned legal immigrants.

Instead, I like the imagery (for undecided citizen voters) seeing the spectacle of real Americans throwing out the wetbacks.

I agree with your comments.

This to me would be a novel way to approach those protesters.

They wanted to get their message out. They held their sign. They got it out.

Trump could have recognized them and said, “Okay, folks we have a small group here who wishes to protest. Their sign says “xxx xxx xxx”.

I disagree with them, because the laws of our nation need to be adhered to. As a sovereign nation we control the flow of foreign nationals into it.

We have evaluated our border situation, have come up with reasoned laws that are similar to the laws other top level nations have, and we enforce them.

Mexico has strident immigration laws they enforce. We couldn’t go down into Mexico and be catered to as illegal immigrants are here. We would be arrested, incarcerated, and deported.

That is Mexico’s right. It is our right. It is any nation’s right to determine their own immigration policies and enforce them.

No matter what group breaks our laws, they are in violation of the law when they do. And when they do, they have lost the moral high ground.

Those who abide by our laws are able to ask for redress on issues. Those that don’t have no standing to demand anything.

They have no right to cry big crocodile tears and expect us to sudden cave to their demands. That is a very flawed idea. And so your protest is a very flawed protest.

Now you got your message out. I have responded to it. Would you like to stay and listen to the rest of the program, or would you like to leave? It’s up to you.

I’m not a vindictive man. I simply want what is legal and right to prevail.

Folks, leave them alone as they leave.

Folks, leave them alone now as they stay and listen on.

Thank you.

If you do draw attention to yourselves again, I will understand that you would rather leave, and we’ll help you do that peacefully.

- - - - -

This would score big points with everyone, no matter your beliefs.

It’s something you couldn’t do without a group like this present.

There’s value in turning these types of antics against those who exhibit them.

I agree. “Heeeeeyyyyyy...” LOL

I have said for decades that Hispanics understand the rule of law. Our enforcement is not a shock to them. It’s a bigger shock that we don’t.

They are the first ones to lose jobs to illegals.

They have to put up with the crime in their communities.

I agree. Mexico’s drug cartels, criminal gangs, and the extensive marketing of the hugely addictive black tar heroin, which is separate from the cartels, alone would be reason enough to protect our borders and deport illegals.

Yes, you’re absolutely right.

The reasoned debate on this issue is so over...

Well that would depend. What does he want made equal? Oh yes. Thats right. He wants criminal invaders to share the same rights as citizens.

It is really amazing the depths people will sink to on Free Republic to defend criminals advocating against America. Amazing but not surprising since it happens more with each passing day. A year ago there was a vocal contingent that hated the idea of a border fence and even posted propaganda from LaRaza affiliated sites to ‘prove’ their position. Today we have people that plan on defending America from an invasion’ by talking about their feelings and other fun childrens’ games.

Now why would people do that on a conservative website I wonder.

Right. Let's do the conservative thing and charge peaceful protesters holding an "equality" sign with sedition.
