After a quick look at the history of populism I would say The American Revolution was the exception and not the rule...and I am far from persuaded that Donald Trump is a potential founding father, but I do want to agree that you are correct in pointing to 1776 as a populist movement that is successful... and there are no doubt others that also accomplished much so I agree that it was stupid to pose the question I did ....and populism has accomplished much.

I dont think Karl Rove is wrong in being leery of it of it ,however, because the path of populism is strewn with pitfalls.I will stand back and hope that you and the other Freepers who think Trump is the best thing since ice-cream are right. And if he wins the primary I will definitely try to get behind him

I agree completely, our American Revolution WAS the exception because up to that point in human history the prevailing view was that governments tell the people what to do, and the people are expected to be subservient and obedient.

Our Founding Fathers and revolutionary ancestors quite frankly said “screw that noise” (metaphorically) and that is why those words ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ are so prominently displayed on the very first page of our Constitution. We ARE the government and when the elected officials that WE send to Washington fail to do their jobs and indeed, betray their oaths of office and violate that sacred Document, We The People have no option except to demand their removal by “any means necessary”, hopefully in a legal and peaceful way but as you no doubt have heard the saying, “we have the soap box, the ballot box and the ammo box” and our history as a Nation has proven that we are unafraid to go for that ammo box when the first two boxes fail to produce the results needed for us to survive.

As for that oaf Karl Rove, I agree with you too, that he is leery of ‘populism’ and ‘populist rage’ because he isn’t so stupid as not to understand that the undercurrent of rage that is pulsing in the hearts of the American people cuts across party lines, and that outrage is not confined or constrained in any way to whether someone has a (D) or an (R) or an (I) after that name.

I don’t know either, if Donald Trump is a potential ‘Founding Father’ but I would say that he has comported himself as a ‘Founding Dutch Uncle’, and done so exceedingly well. He has completely turned the usually rigged Republican primary process upside down, and while like any man he is not perfect, but in my view he has been more right than wrong, and based on the overwhelming support which appears to be consistent and not just a passing fancy of the American people, I think he’s here to stay.

You and I may disagree on some things (that is completely normal and expected) but I do believe that we agree on one major thing, which is the need to end the ‘business as usual’ mindset which has corrupted our existing political parties, has made our elected officials bought and paid for toadies by whoever has contributed the most cash to them, and at this point Trump appears to be leading the charge to do just that.

I love our Nation, and I know you do too.

Hope you have a good week Woofie.

Whatever his faults and shortcomings, even his detractors must see that if he were not on the stage, Bush would be in the high percentile at this time, foisted upon the people.

And the 'RAT campaign for Hillary would be blanketing the airwaves with
Jeb awarding her a 'Liberty Medal' in 2013

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jeb said “I want to say thank you to both Secretary Clinton and to
President Clinton, thank you for your service to our country, we are
united by our love of country and public service.”

That RINO sonuvabitch should just go on and join the 'RATS and get
that (D) behind his name where it belongs.
