Now, Dr. Ben is the candidate of the Club for Growth.
No. Oftentimes candidate X attacks candidate Y, with defectors going to Candidate Z. Those who support candidate candidate Z are not "cooperating" with candidate X.
Now, the Club for Growth is NOT a candidate, but are effectively a proxy for the John Ellis Bush/Rubio/Kasich wing of the party. They can't find any way to derail Trump with those three, so they just want to derail Trump with negative ads and figure out a way to help their guys later. Because that is the only viable option at this point.
Let them run their ads, as the Dems will attack Trump from both left and right in the general (using a proxy if need be). Trump has the means to fight back, and this is also an opportunity to move to the right where the ads are true, or expose the lies with more publicity than the original ads got if they are lies.
Carson might be the beneficiary for now, that doesn't mean he is part of that effort or owes Club for Growth anything.

If Dr. Carson doesn't disavow the Club for Growth, Trump's going to have a campaign issue since they bragged about their ads that helped Carson and temporarily brought down Trump's percentage.
