WASHINGTON–Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick will hold a press conference with Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday, Oct. 26, according to the campaign. The two will speak to reporters at Cruz’s presidential campaign headquarters in Houston.
The announcement didn’t specify the conference’s purpose, but Patrick could become the highest-ranking Texas state politician to endorse Cruz’s presidential campaign.
Patrick told The Texas Tribune in August 2013 that he’d support Cruz if he ran for president. The compliment was as a surprise given Patrick’s rancorous relationship with Cruz during the latter’s 2012 Senate run against then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Cruz beat Dewhurst for the Republican nomination, and Patrick did the same in the 2014 lieutenant governor race.
Gov. Greg Abbott hasn’t chosen who he’d endorse–a decision once complicated by former Gov. Rick Perry’s campaign. With Perry out of the race, Cruz is the only Texas politician left, .....
Cruz has endorsements from six Texas congressmen and a slew of Texas state legislators. His colleague, Sen. John Cornyn, said he will not make endorse a primary candidate. The two often butt heads in Congress, and Cruz refused to endorse Cornyn in the 2014 Senate Republican primary.
A Patrick endorsement could put pressure on Abbott to follow as Cruz looks to clinch support from Texas, which holds its primary March 1. The state’s earlier-than-usual primary has given Texas unprecedented early influence, and Cruz trails only Trump in polls in his home state.
Patrick’s blessing could also be a counter-punch to former President George W. Bush’s swipes at Cruz in a private fundraiser for his brother’s presidential campaign. Bush said said he “just [didn't] like” Cruz and panned his ties to Trump, but warned he could pose a threat to Jeb Bush in Texas, according to anonymous donors.

Interesting that Cruz is willing to do this while Patrick is taking flak via lawfare from ‘Rats and and RINOs. The uniparty is trying to take Patrick out.
Cruz is doing an amazing job building a web of endorsements.
