On the other hand, pork products protect from mohammedans, so overall, it’s a net win.

If bacon, ham, and sausage are bad, I guess I will have to order pepperoni for my next pizza.

The last one died during my lifetime.

He was 109 years old.

Being a Southerner, he probably ate more pork than his Yankee counterparts.

And it’s just a coincidence /s that those products are haram?
People who remain kosher don’t inflict their dietary restraints upon others. However, those who practice halal dietary guidelines want/demand those limitations inflicted upon all.

In 75, when this crap came around the first time the big commercial was Euell Gibbons hawking cereal with wild hickory nuts. That was an eminent part of the natural foods push. The old fart died the next year; proof that his high fiber, natural diet did little to keep him munching his fodder.

Bacon then, bacon now, bacon forever.

Diet changes for prostate cancer progression control:

http://ornishspectrum.com/wp-content/uploads/Intensive_Lifestyle_Changes_and_Prostate_Cancer.pdf

and see

http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=3515667&g=3515851#m3515851

for example.

I’m cicero2K there as well.

This does not apply to non prostate cancer patients, but most men will be diagnosed in their lifetime.

Cultures with limited access to animal protein, do not die of prostate cancer.

My vegan coworker almost had a spaz when I whipped out my fried bologna sammich.

“That bologna is horrible! Do you know what that has in it?”

At first I said, ‘Why do you hate America? yes... America... thats whats it’

Then I informed him that , reeling back the years, of all the things I put into my body, I don’t think sandwich meat is going to be what does me in.

Note that it’s not just pork products being put into this category. Alcohol is in there too.

And the health benefits of various types of alcohol, consumed in moderation (such as wine) are pretty well documented.

Thanks.

That first link is to a study that compared “comprehensive lifestyle changes” (exercise, meditation, vitamins, etc.) to a control—not exactly evidence re: animal protein.

This seems to be a roundup of the relevant studies: there may be a link for black men, but not white; only more well-done meat may have an association, etc.

But it wouldn’t be shocking if there were a correlation altogether.

I’m 65 years old. Been eating bacon and sausage all my life, at least 4 times a week for breakfast. Don’t eat eggs that much anymore, but love country sausage. All my blood work is fine. I am about 40 pounds overweight but what the hell. I was born and raised in NC, with a mother that cooked everything in lard and cooked fried chicken two or three times a week, or chicken fried steak. She fried everything. She was a great cook and seasoned everything with fatback or bacon grease. She lived to be 90 and died at home. The day before she has cooked Sunday dinner for me and my brother. Wanted to take her out for dinner but she would have no part of it, she wanted to cook for her boys.

Go figure the odds. Unless your name is Enoch (who walked with God and was no more) or Elijah (who was taken up in a chariot of fire) everyone who came before us has died. Even the Son of God died. (although he rose on the third day)

The only thing anyone dies of is being born. As sure as you’re born, you’re going to die.

That’s the fact. It WILL happen and all you can do is delay it. As for me, I know I’m going to a better place so I ain’t scared of death.

Note to self: Quit Smoking Bacon.

I don't know. There's something about hickory smoke that's almost irresistible. I figure the the Almighty gave his critters (including man) the ability to adapt to his surroundings. And man has been eating smoked meats over fire for thousands and thousands of years.

Nitrates and other preservatives are a recent developments, and perhaps our bodies have a hard time dealing with those, however there are other methods of preserving meats/food our ancestors have used for eons, such as salt curing, drying, acidic, sugar (honey), enzymes (fermentation) and smoking.

Can’t read the whole thread (bear with me, I work graveyard and have to go to bed!) but I read that the problems with bacon, ham, and sausage is....nitrates, used to preserve them.

I also read that a glass of OJ per day neutralizes that problem.

‘nite !
