When the smartest half of the population becomes just as dumb as the other half, there's no one intelligent left to vote. I'll vote Trump over any Democrat. I'll vote him over many of the republicans. But I have no delusions - he is a dangerous liberal wolf in sheeps clothing that will have to be monitored carefully. Well if by immigration policy one is referring to who is allowed to stay in the country as I think moehoward does then yes Bushes open borders policies were at the least, not helpful in protecting the country. Most of those involved in the attack were here illegally. Things might have been different if USA had aggressive enforcement of immigration laws.

Trump said in response to Jeb saying “W kept us safe” (Please note the LACK of a 911 qualifier) that 911 happened on W watch. Is that not true? He also said that agressive enforcement of immigration laws “might” have prevented the attack. Since most of the attackers were here illegally (over stayed VISAs) he might have a point.

The question is after the first attack in 93 why weren’t applications from Muslim “tourists” and “students” given serious scrutiny?
We know nearly all of the 9/11 Islamists were here on visas that were rubber stamped despite questionable applications. Had Bush been a wee bit more concerned about the border and immigration, he could have toughened up such lax policies when he took office.
We also know Bush had been briefed on possible/probable attack plans.
Maybe, just maybe, it would have been a good idea to take a look see at recently processed Muslim visa applications.

Not true. Bush ran on his "compassionate conservatism", the usual talk (and only talk) of border enforcement, while speeding up and easing restrictions on entries and family unification.

Agreed. Thats exactly how is was. I remember the incident with our intel plane that got rammed and had to land in China. There also was a great satire revision piece about how Bush implemented security measures to stop 911 and the democrats promptly brought up impeachment charges.
