What the intelligence reports of Tenet's CIA actually told Bush was that al-Qaida was plotting terrorist attacks, but neither Tenet nor Bush knew how or when any such attacks would take place.
What Trump told CNN doesn't actually contradict the "fact check gotcha" that IBD thinks they've successfully used.
Trump said that the CIA knew in advance that there would be an attack. Tenet's CIA told President Bush that al-Qaeda was planning attacks. Ergo, Bush and Tenet both knew that the likelihood of an attack was very, very high.
Note - despite the way the article tries to make it sound, Trump didn't actually specifically say there would be an attack on Sept. 11, or in New York City, or on the Twin Towers, or anything else. He merely said, "an attack." In this, he was 100% correct.
So, from one comment that was 100% correct, IBD spins it into "Trump supports 9-11 conspiracy theories!!11!1eleventy!11"

Plus there were low level agents screaming at their higher ups that something was going on only to be squelched because they didn’t want the bad PR should they be wrong, ie. allegations of islamophobia etc....
And the Bush/Saudi connection didn’t help matters much either....
Imagine if an agent arrested a Saudi student going to one of those flight schools before 9/11, one call to their rich 3rd cousin oil Shiek over there in the kingdom who was friends with their inbred king and they would probably be fired within the week.
