If he won’t run unless he can win with over 218 Republican votes then that’s good. He can’t get those votes without compromising with the conservatives.
It will save everybody in Sodom-On-The-Potomac a lot of trouble and they can get to their tee times and cocktail parties with all their lobbyist buddies on schedule and it won't cost them a dime. In fact, they will make out like bandits - just like now.

True, but I don’t think the HFC mind being “in quite the spot”: they knew they would be before they started.
They have the votes to stop Ryan, if he won’t accept Dem support.

The Black Caucus has a say in democrat politics. Numbers mean little. The caucus is just a group that is there to provide a vision and help generate leadership in issues. They are people who run on basically the same campaign as most of the party, but they are joining together. They worked hard to de-seat Boehner, but had no coherent plan on what to do next. Newt Gingrich led a movement and then had an agenda. They don’t seem to have much of a plan or strategy. They should have been grooming someone to run...Jim Jordan or others, who could build a larger coalition.
Tom McClintock recently left the group, not because he disagreed with their purpose, but did not feel like they were effective. I am more and more feeling the same. The serious lack of leadership development with two giant cycles of conservative victories is stunning.
The Dem Leader *isn’t* a member of the Black Caucus.
I appreciate McClintock’s criticisms but think the HFC is doing better as time goes on. The HFC just formed this year, should have formed earlier for sure.

The Dem leadership is owned by and in partnership with the MSM. When the news is played and selected to benefit the Dems it has an impact on public opinion.
