U.S. and Iraq Pursuing ISIS on Several Fronts
NY Times via MSN ^ | 10/19/15 | MICHAEL R. GORDON, ERIC SCHMITT

BAGHDAD — Struggling to regain the initiative after a long impasse in the battle against Islamic State militants, the Iraqi government and the American-led coalition are for the first time in months putting military pressure on the jihadists on multiple fronts, officials say.

Supported by increased American air power, Iraqi forces are on the outskirts of Ramadi, pressing to encircle the capital of Anbar Province, which the militants took in May, and cut it off from resupply and reinforcements.

To the north of Baghdad, Iraqi military forces and Iranian-backed Shiite militias are trying to expand their foothold at the Baiji oil refinery after retaking it from the Islamic State on Friday.

And in northeast Syria, the American military last week said it had parachuted 50 tons of ammunition to Syrian Arab fighters. The intent was that those fighters would join a larger body of Kurdish forces in advancing toward Raqqa, the Islamic State’s capital in Syria, and perhaps draw some Islamic State fighters away from Iraq to defend the city.

Iraq has allied with Iran, Russia and Syria to get ISIS. The US has been cut out.

Now that they are really killing ISIS, the filthy Rats in the media along with the Admin, the DoD are now PRETENDING they have ISIS on the run. We did not do squat and it’s why Russia came into rescue Assad.

Now that ISIS is getting their a$$ kicked, then we are pretending we are doing it too.

This article title is 100% Bull!

What’s astounding is that the US led forces have had Ramadi surrounded since May and haven’t been able to remove ISIS. How can that be? By now, all fighting age men in Ramadi should’ve been in cages or worse.

This article title is 100% Bull.

Through the miracle of Facebook there is direct contact with exactly what’s going on in Syria and you are correct, the NYT is filling people full of crap.
Obama isn’t bombing the enemy, they’re bombing empty buildings and lots.

Agree. We were running sorties but not dropping a lot of bombs. It was all for show.

This article, from the NY TIMES, is a classic example of propaganda. Clearly this is the message directly from Obama being reprinted. It is so patently obvious.

"Iraq has allied with........"

You like to read the russian propaganda because it tells you what you want to believe.

The key passage in the article is found in paragraph 7 where it says Abadi is struggling to build up his authority, but you wouldn't know anything about that. Are you rooting for Allawi or Maliki?

There is no military solution in Iraq and Syria.

You may think that Russia can restore Assad to all his power and glory by bombing, but he is still dead meat walking. Putin just wants to put Assad in a better negotiating position.
