Sen. Ted Cruz: Republican congressional leaders are essentially ‘effective’ Democrats

Sen. Ted Cruz continued to slam congressional leadership Sunday, equating Republicans in charge to Democrats.

"The truth of the matter is Republican leadership are the most effective Democrat leaders we've ever seen. They've passed more Democratic priorities than Harry Reid ever could," Cruz said of the Senate minority leader on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Cruz has ramped up his attacks on Republican leadership in recent weeks, trying to set himself apart from the rest of the Republican presidential field by painting himself as the only candidate who has stood up to the current political establishment. The Republican from Texas paints himself as an insurgent, even if he is a sitting U.S. senator who is more aligned with non-politician candidates, such as GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, who want to upend the current political status quo.

For months, Cruz has aligned himself with Trump in an odd political relationship as a way to harness Trump's supporters if they choose to not back the real estate mogul.

"Donald's campaign has been immensely beneficial for our campaign," Cruz said Sunday. "He's framed the central issue of this Republican primary as 'Who will stand up to Washington?' Well, the natural follow up, if that's the question, is: Who actually has stood up to Washington? Who has stood up to both Democrats and to leaders in their own party?"

Cruz says he is the only candidate in the Republican field who has done that.

Speaking of a Republican effectively being a Democrat. How about your vote FOR the Obama-Kerry/Iran nuclear deal Ted? "Effectively" against Israel AND America.

An insider pretending to be an outsider.

Tell us Mr. constitutionalist. Is it considered "conservative" to vote away your constitutional right of veto in favor of an America hating President, a terrorist nation and "effectively" against an allie?

What was your payoff for that lunacy Mr. conservative constitutionalist? More Koch?

Ted Cruz a fraud of the highest order talks a lot, says nothing with no definitive plan(s).

Don't take my word for it, go to his website. When you find his plan for taxes, immigration, economy, how to deal with ISIS etc. post it. All you'll find is how to donate money.

OH, he does have a plan for jobs. Good luck finding one. His "jobs/economic" plan is for everyone to work in energy...You know, that's the industry presently laying off, shutting down production...OH yea, he's real frigg'n brilliant.

Cruz is right, and he should have endorsed the opposition to John Cornball.
