Former Florida Governor and future Republican presidential primary concession speech-deliverer Jeb Bushs prosciutto-handed penchant for exploiting tragedy was on brilliant display this week in a pair of unrelated yet telling moments.
First, there was his odd decision to bring up a space program disaster without knowing even the most basic details surrounding it. At a Concord, N.H. town hall meeting, Jeb! had just finished praising the idea of Moonbase Gingrich, and probably felt it was time to remind the crowd that he used to be a Gubner and knows how to be Very Serious, so he completely went off on a tangent about that time he spoke a memorial service for some shuttle, whose name he couldnt retrieve, that blew up in some year beginning with two-thousand.
The audience tried to help him out, but he couldnt quite get there:
I was thinking, you were going to bring up the tragedy that took place, I will never forget that, when I went as governor of Florida, to the tarmac for a tribute to the astronauts, that died. I think it was 2005, maybe um , yeah. [audience: Christa McAuliffe?] No, the other one, 2002. In the 2000s. It was horrible. Its a reminder that this is a dangerous endeavor, but it is worth us, for all sorts of reasons, to be engaged in it.
The audience was also no help, suggesting that maybe Jeb was governor during the 1986 Challenger disaster

One should NEVER describe anything John Ellis Bush does with prosciutto. Chorizo, maybe, but NEVER prosciutto.
Double or nothing says he eats it ...
I just can’t get past the thought that Jeb just isn’t very smart. I moved out of Florida shortly before he was elected governor. I am not sure how or why he was elected - twice. A lot of Floridians are not that stupid. Was there election fraud? More hanging chads? No competition?
Stand up, Chuck!
He just can't keep his foot out of his mouth.
Jeb’s clearly not ready for Prime Time.
"My grandfather gave me a great piece of advice. I'll never forget it. I think of it all the time, and it really is the basis for how I live my life today. I'll just never forget it. He said:
"Steve, you must never --
-- oh, wait --
-- maybe he said, Steve, always ..."
It appears Jeb has a lot of George in him!!
Space shuttle Columbia you idiot.
That's probably a really difficult name for him to remember. He probably thought it would be an American name, not Mexican.
Bringing it up in a speech and then not even being able to recall the slightest detail about it is pretty lame. He even appeared to try and make a New Hampshire connection, even though the schoolteacher Christie McAuliffe (from Concord, NH) was on the 1986 Challenger.
Definitely a Rick Perry moment for the Jebster.
Dammit ! I knew someone would beat me to the punch.
As El Jebbe’s uncle, the Hon. Elihu Smails, said, the world needs ditch diggers, too.

They were probably sleeping.
Christa.
He’s certainly not adopted, he can pull a good Bushism.
Actually Jeb ! wasn’t a bad governor, except for his gutless spineless management of the Terry S. debacle...
I think he is probably more conservative than his handlers let him show. He’s no Ted Cruz by any stretch...
When you are bought and paid for candidate, you do your corp masters bidding...
..
The audience was also no help
