Not long after the incident, I was at my son’s school dropping off some paperwork and they had a lock down drill. They moved us to a conference room at the end of the office area, closed and locked the door, pulled the blinds and turned off the lights. In other words, fish in a barrel. No secondary exit, windows didn’t open and no method of protecting themselves if someone broke through the door. I guess the windows would open with a chair. Luckily it was a drill. They had chocolate, I guess that wasn’t bad for a drill.
That’s really sad, a locked door is not going to keep a shooter out if he wants in.
Might as well have the kids just climb into the oven. The solution is guns and men of courage. Schools have neither.
