More than a quarter of a million people have been killed in Syria's brutal conflict since it began with anti-government protests over four years ago, a monitoring group said Friday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it has documented the deaths of 250,124 people, including at least 74,426 civilians.

The civilian toll includes 12,517 children and 8,062 women.

Well, if Obama and the CIA didn’t fund the rebellion this disaster most likely wouldn’t have happened.

We saw what happens when a dictator is taken out, in Iraq.

Muslims run wild killing each other.

Obummer was hoping for a different outcome. Muslim Brotherhood taking over Syria.

He also hoped for that in Egypt but they surprised him.

Now Putin surprised him.

250k is a big number. Thank God the number of Americans is 0.

Or are there some Americans in that number?

Its toll does not include some 30,000 people missing in Syria

Many of those missing could very well be in Germany or on their way to the US. It's been said that they've crossed borders without any ID so who knows who they really are and if they're innocents. Though innocents wouldn't need to hide their identities. How many of the dead count matches bodies? Or do the counts include hearsay?

I hate to sound so callous but if 75k are civilians that means the other 175k are enemy combatants taking a nice long dirt nap.

The problem with any Arab country trying to get rid itself of a dictator who is an Arab Moslem is the replacement is also an Arab Moslem. The real problem is Islam and nothing will change unless this false religion is extirpated grom the face of the earth. “When will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?” Peter, Paul and Mary. Yes they were leftists, just an excerpt from one of their songs. p>

AND we have to hope that the dope in charge doesn’t accidentally get us into WWIII.

He said it isn’t a proxy war but he drops 50 tons of weaponry. That sounds like proxy.

What’s next, no fly zone?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_Observatory_for_Human_Rights

SOHR has been accused of selective reporting, covering only violent acts of the government forces against the opposition for the first two years of its existence. Although critics concede that its reports have become less partisan, critics interviewed by AsiaNews, the official press agency of the Roman Catholic Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, charge that as of 2013 SOHR “continues to defend Islamic extremists to avoid losing support among rebel forces”.[10]
Charlie Skeltom, in a 2012 piece in The Guardian,[11] questioned the wisdom of those who quote a source that amounts to nothing more than a lone clothes seller, living in Coventry, posing as an organisation with a “grandiose” name.

But were they really muslims? Saddam, Qaddafi, Assad? They lived and live pretty secular lives.

I think secular dictators with a mostly secular army crushing the millions of zealots was our best bet for years.

Letting the Sauds put 10s of billions into terrorist hands and pretending Afghanistan was an ally were two big mistakes.

Only 250,000 in four years in their civil war? Pfft, the U.S. got 620,000 in the same amount of time in ours, and that was before automatic rifles, fighter jets, helicopters, etc.

If the objective of the world nations was to protect life this war and others would not last as they do.....but of course human life is not nation leaders concerns. ...Power and retaining power and resources is first and foremost. People are the collateral damage to that end.

I fear that is going to include American civilians one day.

I hope it has never been a reason to put our troops in harm’s way. Am I being naive?
