You are on the money. In this instance, other reasons include:
1) They will be asking about classified matters. No benefit in giving the witness an excuse to answer “Sorry, that’s classified” after every question.
2) The Committee is accused by Dems of existing mainly to hurt Hillary’s candidacy. It’s hard to pretend a closed session is a show trial.
3) Though Hillary already knows the answers Abedin has been coached to say, others might not. No point promulgating a story for others to “corroborate”.

Thank you for bringing sensibility to the table. I don’t see any statement in the article that she was not under oath. But even if she wasn’t, it is a crime to lie to a federal officer. I’m with Gowdy on this. He has handled the cas as the able prosecutor he is. He doesn’t cut the legs from under his hand selected subordinates. I want him on my team.
I think that a curse of our current culture is we want sound bites, and cases wrapped up in one hour. The Benghazi debacle has many tentacles, and a responsible prosecutor/investigator would not be in a hurry to please the public. If it can come out, I’m confident in TG to get all the juicy details, and all the boring minutia.

I’m sure she lied-she probably likes the idea of keeping her job-the Weiner is probably high maintenance, with all those scandals to deflect and blackmail to pay. I don’t care who she sleeps with, I just want to see her trip over a few lies and drag her boss over the cliff with her...
What would be interesting is comparing their testimonies. However, I’m sure that by now abedin has dutifully reported to hillary everything to which she gave witness.
And not that anything hillary might say would bring her down anyway. She is hillary after all, and therefore immune.
