Of course. That is the history of totalitarian states like the former USSR and what America is rapidly becoming under the tyranny of its mostly unconstitutional $4 trillion government.
Faith in God and individual freedom are inherently against government self-interest. And government interest is inherently against individual interest.
That is why the federal government is a necessary evil that must be kept small and within the bounds of the Constitution and limited basically to protecting us from foreign invasion. The rest is up to the states and the people.

If humans where not intended to have an awareness of G*D ,we wouldn't all have it in the first place and they wouldn't be fighting something that doesn't exist.

I don’t believe so- There are cases where people with frontal lobe damage lost their sense of ‘caring’ about anything- they would hurt themselves and not care, hurt others and not care, hurt animals, and not have the ability to care
HOWEVER, these people still know right from wrong- They know they doing something immoral- the universal moral code is still active I n them- it’ just that they no longer care to obey it-
much like liberalism really- Liberals KNOW they are murdering children in abortion, but they don’t care, liberals KNOW that they are hurting society by trying to do away with moral values, but they don’t care- Liberals KNOW that they are hurting themselves by embracing the abominations they embrace, but they don’t care

These folks will have absolutely no problem at all embracing another, 'who comes in his own name'. That they've become *this* brazen about it only underscores the likelihood that the arrival of this individual is imminent...

These "scientists" need repeated punches to the mouth to make them understand that a "belief in God" is not an affliction which needs "treatment."
All of their reports need to be edited to remove the word "God" and substitute the word "Allah", and then sent to all the Muslim enclaves in the world.

That is also why the fight for freedom from tyranny is now at the state level where the people of each individual state have to decide whether they prefer temporary federal “handouts” (with your money, of course) and long-term slavery and oppression or whether it is worth it to nullify and reject unconstitutional federal acts, allow the cutting off of federal funds, and declare INDEPENDENCE from tyranny as our forefathers did.
I’m not talking secession (yet), but a determined state-level stance against a federal government when federal acts are unconstitutional. Most of the federal government has gone way beyond its constitutional limits, the Constitution being our only legal bulwark of freedom against the tyranny of the feds.

Well put- I use the term universal moral code, and explain that it compels us ALL to seek Him (beign that He is the ultimate moral authority- and code giver)
Some try to argue that tribes in forests somewhere often have societies where ‘anything goes’ and claim this refutes the idea of a moral code, yet two points disprove such thinking- One, obviously NOT anything goes, otherwise there would only be one person left standing and holding all the loot- So of course this shows some kind of restraint that allows people to live together and not kill one another until extinction (some might argue this is nothing more than a ‘sense of self preservation’ defense ot preserve the line) and the second point which refutes this nonsense that ‘anything goes’ and ‘no one has any moral values at all’ in such societies is the FACT that many do infact seek out God and DO seek out moral guidance even when their society is Godless and holds very little In the way of moral values
People who become saved fro msuch tribes have testified over and over and over again that even htough their society was nearly devoid of moral values, they ALWAYS knew I n their heart that the way they were living was wrong and that there must be something better, purer, more moral and just plain right’
Almost without exception, every member that finds God testifies to this same inner moral code which drives them on- even when their society tried to drive it out of them-
If I recall correctly, the USSR sent individuals diagnosed with this "condition" to "mental hospitals" where they were "treated".

It seems more like a statistical anomaly than a cause - effect observation to me. It almost certainly has no connection to specific religions rather than more likely being an interruption in the region of the brain connected to such matters.
