Kim Jong-un's Sister 'Loses Security Job' After Blunders

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's younger sister has apparently lost her job taking care of security for her brother after several blunders during events she organized, a source here claimed Wednesday.

The source said one lapse occurred during a youth rally organized by Kim Yeo-jong on May 14. State-run TV showed footage of the North Korean leader waving at the audience of youngsters, but since it was impossible to take a photograph with tens of thousands of people, Kim Jong-un moved from one stage to another taking photos with different groups.

As he moved from one stage to another, the cheering crowd suddenly rushed toward him, with some youngsters grabbing his arm or standing next to him holding his hand.

Workers Party secretary Choe Ryong-hae and the head of the youth league tried to stop the crowd but failed, the source said.

As the crowd surrounding Kim grew uncontrollably, bodyguards in military uniform rushed to Kim's side and formed a ring around him, and he exited the scene.

The source said Kim Yeo-jong, who was present, apparently organized the event to promote a more accessible image of her brother.

The source said at another recent event, Kim Jong-un almost got hit in the face by a guitar as an instrumentalist tried to get closer to him while playing during a farm visit.

Kim Ki-nam, who handled propaganda events for former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, was recently reinstated, apparently to remedy the security lapses.

Kim Ki-nam disappeared from public view after a ceremony in April, but resurfaced three months later assisting Kim Jong-un during a visit to a museum on July 23. englishnews@chosun.com / Oct. 08, 2015 11:34 KST
