KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The police in the Malaysian state of Sabah have received a report claiming that an aircraft wreckage with the Malaysian flag painted on it was found on a southern Philippines island.
The report was made by a man who said the wreckage with human remains inside was spotted by his nephew, from the southern Philippine island of Tawi Tawi, at Ubian Island in southern Phillippines several days ago.
State Commissioner Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the man made the report at the Sandakan police station on Saturday (Oct 10).
"This matter is being investigated," he told The Star in a text message.
In the report the man, an audio visual technician in his 40s, said his nephew and a few others were hunting for birds when they spotted the wreckage on the island....

I wonder how far this island is from where they found that wing we never heard anything more about?
Over 8,000 km (4800 miles) according to Google. Somewhat unlikely that one crash could produce debris in these 2 areas.
What are the crosses on that map?
Earthquakes? Sunken ships? Dead Christians?
Yes.
The Philippines is very much a majority Christian (Catholic & Protestant) country.
“...80-85% of Filipinos were then Roman Catholics, with 93% being Christian, and that 5% of the population was then Islamic.”

Worthless stats. It depends on which island.
Phillipines has an autonomous muslim no go zone. How about that?
I was the captain of a seismic ship, and we shot a lot of seismic between Sandakan and Tawi Tawi in the eighties and nineties. We always carried 4-5 Philippine Army Scout Rangers on those jobs, armed with M-61s, M-16s, BARs and M-79s.
One of them could hit a shark’s dorsal fin from 300 metres with an M-16 while the ship was underway!
This story sounds like maybe the product of a bit too much rum or mary jane perhaps?
The region, while remote, is not unpopulated. According to wikipedia (yeah I know) the islands in question east of the main island have 27 thousand inhabitants. Somebody would have seen something before now, you would think. Also, I found this rather odd, when I googled the location one of the first things to come up was a slide show of the area and at random there was a slide entitled “pray for the passengers and crew of MH370” so perhaps the idea began from that sentiment.
I have the hunch that we’ll find out this is either a poorly conceived joke or just plain misinformation by some attention seekers.
You would need well armed people with you. The bad guys get nervous when people shoot back at them. I just avoid those areas. Eastern Mindanao is pretty good, however.
Might do better than you think.
They wouldn’t make out in public, would they? :)
