Carly Fiorina's Post 9/11 Speech in Praise of Islam Resurfaces
Christian Headlines ^ | 8/14/15 | Bethany Blankley

Two weeks after 9/11, on September 26, 2001, Carly Fiorina gave a speech, "Technology, Business and Our Way of Life: What's Next," in which she tied courage, leadership, heroes, and “the questions of life and death” to business leaders learning from one of the greatest civilizations to ever exist: Islamic civilization. Her claims evidence her exceptional ineptitude or blatant, galling, willful deceit.

Consider her claims about Islam and America. She says, America is “indebted” to the Islamic civilization

-snip-

Where did Carly come up with this nonsense—from talking to Aladdin on a magical carpet ride? Her claims top even the mystical fantasies of The Arabian Nights.

For the truth, however, Islamabad writer Dr. Farrukh Saleem pointed out in 2005 indisputable facts about the Islamic world.

Today, the 57 Islamic countries are the world’s poorest and most illiterate:

The GDP of 57 Muslim countries is less than $2 trillion

Muslims comprise roughly 22 percent of the world’s population but only produce less than 5 percent of global GDP

20 percent of Arabs live on less than $2 per day The average growth rate of per capita income in the Arab world hovers around .5 percent per year [worse than everywhere else except for sub-Saharan Africa] 60 percent of Muslims worldwide are illiterate 50 percent of Arab women cannot read.

Dr. Javaid Laghari adds that 40 percent of the Muslim states’ population falls below the poverty line.

Today, the 57 Islamic countries contribute the least to scientific and technological advancement, let alone have computers or use the Internet. Saleem points out that over a period of more than 105 years, only two (2) Muslims won the Nobel Peace Prize. (They studied Physics and Chemistry in Italy, the U.K., and California). Only eight (8) Muslims are Nobel Laureates.

The future must not belong to those who deny the true nature of Islam.

The Speech ....

and the part within the speech this article targets;

"I’ll end by telling a story.

There was once a civilization that was the greatest in the world.

It was able to create a continental super-state that stretched from ocean to ocean, and from northern climes to tropics and deserts. Within its dominion lived hundreds of millions of people, of different creeds and ethnic origins.

One of its languages became the universal language of much of the world, the bridge between the peoples of a hundred lands. Its armies were made up of people of many nationalities, and its military protection allowed a degree of peace and prosperity that had never been known. The reach of this civilization’s commerce extended from Latin America to China, and everywhere in between.

And this civilization was driven more than anything, by invention. Its architects designed buildings that defied gravity. Its mathematicians created the algebra and algorithms that would enable the building of computers, and the creation of encryption. Its doctors examined the human body, and found new cures for disease. Its astronomers looked into the heavens, named the stars, and paved the way for space travel and exploration.

Its writers created thousands of stories. Stories of courage, romance and magic. Its poets wrote of love, when others before them were too steeped in fear to think of such things.

When other nations were afraid of ideas, this civilization thrived on them, and kept them alive. When censors threatened to wipe out knowledge from past civilizations, this civilization kept the knowledge alive, and passed it on to others.

While modern Western civilization shares many of these traits, the civilization I’m talking about was the Islamic world from the year 800 to 1600, which included the Ottoman Empire and the courts of Baghdad, Damascus and Cairo, and enlightened rulers like Suleiman the Magnificent.

Although we are often unaware of our indebtedness to this other civilization, its gifts are very much a part of our heritage. The technology industry would not exist without the contributions of Arab mathematicians. Sufi poet-philosophers like Rumi challenged our notions of self and truth. Leaders like Suleiman contributed to our notions of tolerance and civic leadership.

And perhaps we can learn a lesson from his example: It was leadership based on meritocracy, not inheritance. It was leadership that harnessed the full capabilities of a very diverse population–that included Christianity, Islamic, and Jewish traditions.

This kind of enlightened leadership — leadership that nurtured culture, sustainability, diversity and courage — led to 800 years of invention and prosperity.

In dark and serious times like this, we must affirm our commitment to building societies and institutions that aspire to this kind of greatness. More than ever, we must focus on the importance of leadership– bold acts of leadership and decidedly personal acts of leadership.

With that, I’d like to open up the conversation and see what we, collectively, believe about the role of leadership.

OK - I will admit I did not read the story, but the headline disturbs me.

Are we to assume that no one can change his/her mind after further discovery of new facts?

That is my only concern with this story. If Carly is being hypocritical now, than it is meaningful. But do we know that she still is sympathetic to Islam? After all, it is 14 years since Sept. 11th, 2001.

How long ago was the Koran printed? How long ago was our Constitution printed? How long ago was the History of America printed?

Everyone of reads things...it’s our fault for not knowing...I read the Koran, it is horrible, it was then and it is now...

No one gets off the hook because ‘we didn’t know’ or ‘it’s someone else’s fault’....

I read the Koran too... and came away with what most Americans come away with - that it’s confusing.

Do you know the trick of reading it so it makes sense? There is one...

The thing I came away with was Mohammad was their God, and that anyone that didn't believe in him wasn't worthy to live...

Knowing my Christian faith, after I read such nonsense was that it was written by satan himself...

Then after about a year, I read it again, and remained in the same opinion....

To: jimbo123; All

Before 911 few paid any attention to moslems. In 2001 millions mistakenly believed that Moslemism was just another mono theoistic variation of a belief regimen simliar to what Christian’s have and not what it actually is.

To drag out Carley’s statements then and condem them by Trump supporters but ignore Trump’s wanderings now, weakens this accusation .

Few were aware that moslemism regimen of belief is a demand of compulsory obedience to Arab tribal mores which nonvoluntary violations are subject to the severest of penaltys proscribed through a codification of a creed commonly known as Sharia. Its followers claim they were authorized by God which was related through an Angel to its founder to punish those who refuse to accept their claims as prescribed in that code .

As soom as we learned how many heads were chopped off we began to know what that creed is. The similarity between it and communism is both demand confomity by the masses. The difference here is moslem’s claim to be mono theoistic .
