"Pork has been the lowest-rated food by inmates for several years”

Ii find this hard to believe as well. So they're trading in bacon for tofu?

I’d bet that what the Feds pass off to inmates as being pork bacon, ham etc. has little resemblance to what you pick up at the store or butcher shop.

Back in my college days, my university cafeteria served up some really nasty bacon in the morning and runny powdered eggs. The cereal was named brand stuff though and the milk for it was quite good.

Actually, replacing the prisoners’s meat with soy products has the added benefit of dosing them with a lot of phytoestrogens.

After awhile, they may start taking up yoga instead of lifting weights!
