I'm almost done with William Manchester's The Last Lion his three volume bio of Churchill. There's literally never been anyone like him, Churchill, in the breadth and depth of his interests and accomplishments.

There's never been another world leader whose speeches were as eagerly awaited for as Churchill. Nobody combined wit and venom in his parliament speeches as well as Churchill.

Even during WWII while the Allies were defeating Hitler, Churchill was wary of Stalin's plans for Europe and worried about Roosevelt getting suckered by him (Stalin). He was able to invoke the past, keep focused on the present, and plan for the future.
