I recall when Governor Connolly came back to Texas after being head of the Treasury under Nixon he was asked by Texas Monthly what we should know about Washington, being as he was never going to run for office or be in politics he had a chance to be honest, he said - well I can’t tell you because the citizens would come and hang every one of us if I did tell you what really went on.
