Donald Trump has entered his second act. His polls, sometimes characterized as weakening, are in fact strong. As Bloombergs John Heilemann said on Morning Joe, if Jeb Bush had Mr. Trumps numbers everyone would declare the race over.
This week Quinnipiac had Mr. Trump solidly leading his GOP rivals in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. A national poll from Reuters/Ipsos had Mr. Trump in the lead with 31%, followed by Ben Carson with 17%. Public Policy Polling had Mr. Trump holding steady nationwide since late August, coming in first at 27%. His support is ideologically broad35% of tea-party voters and 29% of moderates, according to PPP. He did better among younger voters and among men (31%) than women (23%).

The first act was Im Here and Im Yuge. Now Act II: I Mean It and Im Staying. He has unveiled a tax plan and come forward as a family man with a seven-page spread in People. Hes emerged as a noninterventionist on the MideastRussia wants to get rid of ISIS. We want to get rid of ISIS. . . . Let them get rid of ISIS. What the hell do we care? He apparently has decided to stop certain media wars.
To me the virtue of his tax plan is that I can understand it. A friend said, Its a total rip-off of Jebs plan! It probably is. But Trump explained Trumps plan, so people paid attention, and Jeb explained Jebs, so they didnt. Mr. Trumps economic policies seem to come from indignationthe poor need a break, the rich have a racket.

The money quote is in the first paragraph
“if Jeb Bush had Mr. Trumps numbers everyone would declare the race over.”
Those who still think Trump is some kind of crypto-leftist who is running a campaign of lies which will be revealed after the election need to pull their head out of the sand or less reputable parts of their anatomy and read up on his actual positions. Unless there is a major, major scandal where Donald Trump is caught sacrificing stray puppies to Satan he will be the nominee.
Trump may not tick every single box you have but he will tick most of them. Tax simplification, illegal immigration control, pro 2nd amendment, pro economic growth, anti-abortion, job protection, American exceptionalism, and the dismantling of the PC speech codes are enough for me.
It is time to get behind a candidate and (figuratively speaking) stand on the throats of RINOs like McCarthy and Turtle until they get with the program or resign. We need to be able to run against the left not against each other.
Rectal Craniosis, it seems to be very widespread in some areas or belief systems
Really a crappy way to live...

Trump has the best immigration, tax and 2nd amendment plan any of us has ever seen. A wall? Kill the death tax. A NATIONAL RIGHT TO CARRY?
Does he have warts? Plenty - like eminent domain - which I hate - and fed.gov healthcare etc. But ALL candidates have positions that I hate. I hated some of the things Reagan did. I hate some of the things the founding fathers did.
Trump, however, is the real deal. He's his own man, who loves his country and is beholden to NOBODY. He's front-and-center moving the game in a way none of us thought any candidate would or could ever dare in today's climate.
Every other candidate will be owned by their donors. Nobody has the initiative or the balls to do what he wants to do on OUR behalf.
If Trump is for real, and he wins, it will be the beginning of the saving of the republic. He reminds me of Truman.

Thanks. Seems to work with that Google link. But after some time, or with a refresh?, it seems to revert back to “sign in to read” brief excerpt.
Seems many people don’t know or understand that “Mr Putin”, having been with the KGB for 16 years, then head of the modern equivalent of it, the FSB, is a master at the art of deception. He plays chess, thinking many moves ahead of his opponents. Most of us, unfortunately, suck at simple checkers.
“The second strongman is Vladimir Putin of Russia, who made a striking impression in a revealing 100-minute interview with Charlie Rose. It took place last month in Mr. Putins residence near Moscow, and ran Sept. 27 on 60 Minutes and in its entirety on Mr. Roses PBS show. I speak frequently to those who know or have met Mr. Putin, and the Rose interview captured the individual the most insightful of them have described. Mr. Putin was confident in his command of information, clever, at times droll, sometimes insistent.
He posited himself as a friend of world stability. ...”

No....not Truman..
I see Teddy Roosevelt.
Walk softly but carry a big stick...and all that.
But......
As it turned out, he became the first progressive Republican president. Led the party into the progressive era.
I don’t think that is the medicine we need. We need Conservatism!
It works every time it is tried, and Trump (bless his heart) is not Conservative enough for what I believe we need.
Peggy Noonan has to concede the obvious. But she does it in such a tortured way.
