The naysayers on the thread, grouse over mole hills and forget to attribute to Newt the climb to the mountain top changes that led to victory in 1994.
Newt ran the joint, that’s for sure.
The party guys in the House despised him for it, but he ran off the crook Jim Wright, from Texas, right out of the speakership, took over the House of Representatives because he met the Democrat domination head on, with his 10 Point Plan from Hell, and along with it restored Republicans to the largest majority in 40 years.
The man knows the job, the Constitution, and the politics of the day, has followed the trends, stayed engaged, and would be of great help, even if the House simply agreed to hear him out. THAT is what he agreed to, on Hannity. He also said if a citizen had 218 votes, no man would walk away from the service to his country.
All men are flawed. So is Newt and so are each of us here, pecking away at those who represent us, who are also flawed and ambitious. Newt would be of great counsel to these people.
They should invite him to put his mind to a speaking engagement.
Post of the week! Who can argue with facts... Also Newt had to deal with Billy frigging Clinton and still did an outstanding job. I think it would work separate the men from the who really loves American!
Nicely said.
I don’t like it, but the fact is, Democrats exist. They must be dealt with, but not caved in to every rime on every issue.
I could smack Newt upside the head sometimes, but can equally cheer for him when he’s right. He did what Trump talks about all the time. He negotiated, he made deals. He was effective. Boehner is and has always been, a mess.
They booted him out and squandered what he left them and then went about the business of spending us into oblivion. I believe Newt is the best of those that are seeking SOTH or that have been mentioned.
Excellent post Rita. Heck the man got a liberal president to sign welfare reform!
I’d take Mr. Newt over Ryan. They are both pro-amnesty but somehow I think I’d trust Newt to listen to the reps. And I love listening to him speak about the founding fathers and Constitution. Comparing him to Obama would be hilarious.
In mulling this over, of those running or considering it the only one I’d trust to try to stop Obama’s executive actions is Newt. He handles confrontation well. I ca only see Ryan trying to sweep it under the rug. Webster also seems a bit milquetoast.
If Newt came back, the liberals would have a stroke.
That would be so much fun.
Well said RitaOK.
Newt is brilliant and if we had a Parliamentary system, he would have been Prime Minister a long time ago. Newt would be the perfect interim Speaker. He would spend time engaging the dems in a good honest debate, always challenging both sides. Surprisingly, he would be a breath of fresh air and I think the voters would like him. We have not had an engaging personality on our side since Newt! Newt is not status quo.
