Willie Robertson, star of reality TV hit "Duck Dynasty," says he's sticking with Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) despite reports he is supporting Donald Trump for the GOP presidential nomination.
When Robertson appeared on stage with Trump at the Oklahoma State Fair in September, media reports said he was endorsing the real estate mogul. But Robertson says he still fully supports Jindal.
Bobby and I are still great friends, and I told him that I would help him in any way that I can, he told The Hill Wednesday at the Angels in Adoption gala in Washington.
I just literally happened to be in Oklahoma at the time and went over to say hello," he said of sharing the stage with Trump. "Its early, you know. Im friends with a lot of the candidates. We talk and share ideas, and well see once this thing is a little closer. Robertson, who was sporting a camouflaged suit jacket, black pants, and a black head band, and his wife Korie Robertson both attended the Angels in Adoption awards gala hosted by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
The Robertsons have two adopted children and are regulars at the event each year.
Korie Robertson is also releasing a book on parenting titled Strong and Kind: And Other Important Character Traits Your Child Needs to Succeed.
She joked that she doesnt love politics as much as her husband, but hes definitely pulling me in and Im trying to get a little more accepting.
Sometimes politics can be a little frustrating to me, she said.
Rachel Crow, star of the upcoming Disney movie Invisible Sister and a former X-Factor star, received the top award for her work to raise awareness about adoption and foster youth.
Before attending the gala, Crow received a private tour of the Capitol and had a meeting with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) to discuss adoption and foster care.
Its been really fun, and I really enjoy D.C., Crow said. I feel like Im actually making change here this week speaking with people and its been incredible.
Over a dozen lawmakers from both parties were spotted at the gala, including Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) who told the Robertsons that they were doing the Lords work.
Also at the event were Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), John Boozman (R-Ark.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), and Reps. Ralph Abraham (R-La.), Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.), Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla.), Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Gwen Graham (D-Fla.), Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) and Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.).
Jindal’s a solid conservative and a decent Christian man. Ideally, I’d like to see him as Cruz’s VP.
A man polling less than 1% adds nothing to the ticket. Cruz would be better off looking elsewhere for his running mate.
Yeah I could certainly live with it.
He lives in LA, what should he say?
“Ideally.”
Jindal is a good man. he has been a little nutty with his comments lately, but not that big of a thing. His positions are what matter.
He said help him in any way, mnot directly to be president but he would make a fine Cabinet officer, I say Education as he had to fight the Unions to get choice post Katrina and it has worked extremely well. I follow Education Very closely, a personal passion you might say and he gets it more than any other candidate I have heard.
President, back in for a bit more time Bobby, we know you can be a QB but we need you to show your stuff here...
Now Kick Ass and Get er Dun!!
“Jindals a solid conservative and a decent Christian man. Ideally, Id like to see him as Cruzs VP.”
You mean “Common Core Bobby”? You mean the one who is leaving the state in absolute financial shambles? You mean the one who has been running for president for 8 years, neglecting his job as governor? You mean the one who appointed a crook to run the Louisiana Senate?
And this, from the other day:
NEW ORLEANS — A new statewide poll conducted for WWL-TV and The Advocate shows a majority of voters rank four-term governor and convicted felon Edwin Edwards as the state’s best governor in recent memory, while current governor and presidential candidate Bobby Jindal is their overwhelming choice as the worst governor in recent times.
I think he polls around 3% in Louisiana.
{”He lives in LA, what should he say?”}
I thought you were losing it, and then I realized I am.
Thought you meant Los Angeles.
Im hooked on their show.....but if Si goes, I go. Between Si and Jase I get my weekly (healthy) dose of redneck logic.
Yeah, you can pass me by with that.
I don’t care to hear conservatives denigrated by people who are slobbering after Democrats.
Definition of AD HOMINEM: marked by or being an attack on an opponent’s character rather than by an answer to the contentions made.
You misunderstand my post, it was not for you, of course. I have noticed other posters are misinformed about Jindal. In case you haven’t noticed, politicians know what to say to an audience. People in Louisiana have seen him in action enough to know he is lying.
He’s been acting like a mental patient for the last month.
Your hero seems to have mastered the art of ad hominem. You guys hoot and clap like seals when he puts it into practice.
So grow up.
It is stunning how a few country boys from West Monroe, LA created a marketing/licensing empire that runs from wine in walmart to cigarette lighters and flashlights in convenience stores and clothing in department stores plus a million other retail items in between.
Willie is a Clint Boyeah #15 fan also. He’s got about much chance as winning as Jindal.
Not for me? It was posted to me.
Look, the reason you don’t like Jindal is because he didn’t praise Trump.
“Misinformed?”
The irony is rich, thick, and delicious.
