Russian missiles fired from Caspian Sea warships traveled more than 900 miles to strike targets in Syria on Wednesday as Syrian government forces opened a ground offensive into areas that include rebel factions, officials said.
The bombardment marked the first naval salvos in Russias week-old military intervention and another sharp escalation of Moscows firepower in Syrias multi-faction civil war.
A map from Russias Defense Ministry showed the path of the cruise missiles crossing Iran and Iraq which would apparently require coordination from both nations and draw them indirectly into the Russian military intervention as gateways for attacks.

any reports about where these missiles actually landed ?
This is the first time we’ve really gotten to see Russian military hardware in action. Apparently it isn’t all dumb bombs.

900 miles is pretty good range for a cruise missile. On par with Tomahawks.
The question is whether the Russian missiles actually hit their targets.
don’t forget. Obama said the only allies Russia has is Iran and Syria. We have a 55 member coalition against Isis. You can see what that coalition has done the past year. As I recall in Germany had Germany against all of Europe and they did pretty well until the Americans hit then
Well they’re hitting something, or else ISIS wouldn’t be fleeing in a panic ...
... just the fear factor, knowing that Russia really intends to fight and won’t let up, unlike NATO’s half-hearted pretend-attacks, is probably enough make those brave jihadis crap their shorts
The Russians are using attack helicopters and cruise missiles.
A multi-faceted, professional operation.
