2016 Candidates React To Russia’s Campaign In Syria (Fiorina: Use Force Against Russians)
Breitbart ^ | 10/2/15 | John Hayward

Posted on 10/04/2015 6:26:47 AM PDT by jimbo123

In a rare moment of bipartisan agreement, both Hillary Clinton and Carly Fiorina have called for the United States and its coalition partners to establish a no-fly zone in Syria to protect U.S.-backed rebel groups – effectively challenging Russia to a military confrontation if it wants to bomb them.

Following is a review of where the 2016 candidates stand on the Syrian situation, beginning with Fiorina and Clinton, and the differences between their no-fly zone proposals. Only those candidates who have made statements about the Russian campaign and how to respond since the air strikes began are included.

Carly Fiorina: As mentioned, Fiorina has called for the Western powers to protect their allies in the Syrian rebellion. “I believe we must tell the Russians that we will conduct… we will secure a no-fly zone around anti-Assad rebel forces that we’re supporting,” she told Sean Hannity of Fox News on Wednesday night.

When Hannity asked if this meant using force against the Russians, Fiorina replied, “Well, hopefully not. Hopefully, if we are signalling clearly to the Russians our intention, it will not come to that. But if it does come to that, I think we must be prepared.”

Fiorina emphasized the importance of signaling to Russia that they would not “get to move into the Middle East and become the dominant outside power,” while criticizing the weakness of President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry – in Ukraine, as well as the Middle East – for making the Russians believe such a move was feasible.

We have heard from Trump on this issue but, AFAIK, we have not a word out of Cruz yet.

Correct?

FioRINO has more compassion (treason) for al Qaeda

than she EVER did for HP or its employees.

This proves she is unfit

to suggest declaring war on Russia ( and its ally Iran) over Bashar Al Assad and for our ally ISIS and AlQaeda in Syria

And how does Mrs Fiorina think China will react? They have already joined with Putin

Here is my take on the issue, if for no other reason and there are other reasons, only one thing needs to be taken into account, as the Progressive Liberal Democrat/Rino Communist Uni-Party is for it... it is a very bad idea.

Hillary and FioRino are premium members of the communist uni-party... enough said!

So both Hillary and Fiorina want to use force, if necessary, against the Russians. Fine.

There is not enough time to train them as fighter pilots. So issue each of these worthies an M16. Then parachute them into FSA (Free Syrian Army) territory. The FSA might immediately turn them, and their weapons, over to ISIS. But if that doesn't happen, they'll make a great anti-Russian combat team.

I like Florina, but on this point, I totally disagree with her. Russia is showing that Dorkbama the Muslim is an untrustable idiot, and the more they do that, the more I agree with their actions.

And, remember that Russia is killing ISIS vermin. This makes Dorkbama the Muslim mad, which makes me happy,

Or the poor stockholders that took a beating of HP stock when she drove that company into the ground while still insuring she secured a $42 million pension for herself.

Obama has had seven years to totally fuck up America’s foreign affairs, to weaken our military and to portray himself (and by extension the entire nation) as a stammering nincompoop.

This is a situation that will not be made right by another mindless confrontation - this time with Russia. especially over the fate of a bunch of murderous Islamists, or whatever stripe. Fiorina has shown herself to be at least the equal of Obama in idiocy.

Trump is the only one making any sense at all on this. Where does Cruz stand?

If Fiorina wants to destroy Russia, she should become their CEO.

As quoted by another Freeper....

Well said. I like Cruz, but in many respects he's a typical politician...gotta wait and see how things develop. Trump is something different. He says what needs to be said, quickly and decisively.

Russia moving in under the pretense of ridding the region of ISIS is like the Mafia moving to your neighborhood under the pretense of eliminating street crime, then setting up a permanent base there to do Mob “business”.

Russia will grow wealthier, more powerful, more aggressive in their overall expansionist agenda (Eastern Europe, eventually elsewhere), and much more of a threat to the US and its allies throughout the world. Sure it’s great IF they actually do get rid of ISIS (we shall see). But having a country like Russia step in and gain such huge strategic advantage over the US is really nothing we should be cheering about.

If Obama was serious about wanting to take out ISIS, which I don’t believe he ever was—I think him and Putin are actually in cahoots on this whole thing despite his and Kerry’s moans and groans about it, it might not ever have come to this, although Russia would likely have come up with some other rationale or excuse for moving into Syria and taking control of it, and ultimately the entire Middle East.

We don't have allies in Syria. This is all pretend.

We don't even have diplomatic relations with Syria. We closed their Embassy in DC in June of 2014 and shipped their people out.

Obama is nuts.

Russia has been the dominant power in the Middle East for years. It’s called oil. Take a look at where their oil lines run.

But can the U.S. continue to be a world power after another four years led by a president who is too cowardly to even impose a no-fly zone against an enemy?

Even George Bush the First declared a no-fly zone over Iraq after the first Gulf war.

If we elect a president with a stated policy of being anti-war — as Ben Carson did when he declared he would not have gone to war in Afghanistan even after 9/11 — then on January 21st, 2016, any country that wants to invade and take over the U.S. will be able to do so with no opposition.
