Its a new era of American politics. With regard to campaign finance, the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling and the arguably worse McCutcheon v. FEC ruling opened the doors to unrestricted corporate funding of our national elections.
The primary mechanism in place facilitating this flood of private money is the super PAC. Youve probably heard of super PACs and how theyve essentially taken over the role traditionally filled by individual campaign donors in Political Action Committees (PACs). But super PACs arent the end of it. There are puppet political non-profits, business associations, and now, single-candidate dark money outfits that, as of September 21, have already raised $25.1 million five times the amount spent by this time in the 2012 election cycle.

No one...he owns himself...his name is Trump...
Lucky you! Mine sends an email request for funding daily. :-)
According to the article, the ONLY candidate not owned is Trump. This in spite of the author’s statements regarding how Trump acquired his wealth which has nothing to do with the article’s original premise. .
It is kinda funny. The most ‘honest’ candidate seems to be the commie, Bernie Sanders, whose primary donors are Unions - just the folks he claims to represent.
Biden is apparently not raising money.
Hillary! is owned by big money and Soros.
Cruz is apparently with Robert Mercer “a climate change denier” who has substantially funded him. Makes me like him more.
Trump, of course, belongs to Trump. Good for him.
“Lucky you! Mine sends an email request for funding daily. :-)”
Yeah, never fill out a political survey or a poll that asks you for your e-mail address because surely as night follows day, the dun notices will be stacking up in your inbox the next day. Personally, I’ve unsubscribed from all of them because all but the top four or five need to go away tomorrow! And I am convinced that money is not going to propel someone like Ted Cruz, whom I like very much, into the lead. Besides, I think he already has some sort of a deal with Trump, or I hope he does.
“Now we know that campaign finance support means payback. Since financial supporters, through PACS, are essentially anonymous, It’s impossible to know who is expecting paybacks. “
Solution: Make all of them wear NASCAR style driver’s suits with all of their contributors shown thereon together with the amount they’ve received. Until this under the table financing of politicians, our government will be “sold” to the highest “bidders.”
Trump=TRUTH
Poor Hillary she might lose most Unions to Trump because she can't please everybody
Whining about campaign finance reform is a lib thing. Ted Cruz is “owned” by the constitution and the American people.
The solution is to only run the independently wealthy or institute public financing? No f.ing thanks.
Ted Cruzs campaign actually has four super PACs, all funded by Robert Mercer, a Long Island hedge fund magnate...LOL!
Big donors’ money goes to support the candidates we dont support.
Hows that for an inherently corrupt system? Additionally, many of these donors are subsidiaries of even larger conglomerates, leaving the funding in the hands, again, of the very few.
Trump is the only one who doesn’t owe his soul to campaign donors. It would be a great ticket if Ted Cruz were also aboard.
