(CNN)Russia's airstrikes in Syria "do not go beyond ISIL (ISIS), al Nusra or other terrorist groups recognized by the United Nations Security Council or Russian law," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday.

Pushed to define "other terrorist groups," Lavrov said: "If it looks like a terrorist, if it acts like a terrorist, if it walks like a terrorist, if it fights like a terrorist, it's a terrorist, right?"

Sure, it may look like a terrorist, but don’t they have to run their targeting proposals through JAG first?

That’s what a true ROE should be like, not like the pussy-cat ROE that the USA has to risks the lives of our own troops.

“If it looks like a terrorist, if it acts like a terrorist, if it walks like a terrorist, if it fights like a terrorist, it’s a terrorist, right?”

And the problem is - ? If we’d been allowed to handle the muzzie scourge like this for the last 15 years, the world might look much different now. ISIS might not even exist.

I agree with Lavrov.

I also agree that carpet bombing is the real way to fight a war and get your enemies to stop given the amount of collateral damage caused.

e.g Tokyo and Dresden WWII

The people of the world have to be given a chance to determine on whose side they stand.

Do they stand with Jesus or with Allah.

I have long-term concerns about Russia, but the more Islamonazi Islamics Muslem murderer thug gangsters they can kill... the better for us, and the entire civilized world.

Vlad is a lot like Carl Spackler. Carl knew To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They’re like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that’s all she wrote.

Agreed. Both Russia and China are long-term dangers to the United States. However, as you said, I'm glad they are doing what needs to be done to ensure we are both around for that encounter. Given the absence of decent leadership on our side, I'll cheer for Russia for the next fifteen months and two weeks.

Watch out because “Russian law”, like “Soviet law” is anything it wants it to be at any time, and you, my friend can be labeled “an enemy of the state” at any time.

Russia has no Rules of Engagement. We saw that in Chechyna and Afghanistan.

What they are doing is to category, according to “Russian law”, any dissidents fighting against Assad, including the good guys (if there are any left).

Give a KGB guy a finger and he’ll take your whole arm off.

What he says is value-neutral in that what he means is, any strategic enemy of the client (Assad) is therefore to be defined as a terrorist. This may be good in some ways but bad in others, depends on how it is applied in future situations as more actors enter the stage.

At some point, for example, the IDF or NATO could be defined as terrorists. Or one step removed, forces directly supported by them could be so defined.

On the positive side, any realist by now must have realized that stability in Syria can probably only be provided by Assad so that the sooner all of his active enemies are neutralized, the better.

How this avoids escalating into something really dramatic is now pretty much in God’s hands because otherwise there is no adult supervision.

There are no good guys fighting against Assad. Anyone in opposition to him has had plenty of time and opportunity to walk to Europe. What is the point of continuing to destroy the nation they pretend to want to save?

Unless someone promised them lots of good stuff to fight a war by proxy.

If the Russians end up killing all the US sponsored terrorists in the world, we might be able to legally send the US government money again.
