HARRISBURG, S.D. (AP) A shooting at a South Dakota high school that left the principal with a minor injury may have turned out far worse if not for staff members who tackled the student suspected of firing at the administrator, authorities said Wednesday.
Just moments afterward, Harrisburg High School Principal Kevin Lein took to the intercom to announce a lockdown and tell students he had been hit, "but was fine," senior Aanna Okerlund said. Other than Lein, who was struck in the arm, no one was reported hurt....

Actually South Dakota passed a law last year that allows school staff to carry firearms.

Nice. Glad to see some states value the lives of school students and staff.

Now that’s a principal you don’t mess with, get’s shot in the arm, with staff wrestles the weapon from the suspect, and still goes on the PA to make announcements.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself) The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

And for the third day in a row, my home state is trending for all the wrong reasons.... sigh
That said, it takes more than a gunshot to keep a SoDakian down.

A Christian family next door is home schooling six children. They are busy bees. I love the sound of their voices when they are outside. They are some of the nicest children I have ever met. Smart, too. And their mom is an angel. Dad is an astrophysicist at NASA. I home schooled one of my sons for a time.
