The Secret Services assistant director urged that unflattering information the agency had in its files about a congressman critical of the service should be made public, according to a government watchdog report released Wednesday.
Some information that he might find embarrassing needs to get out, Assistant Director Edward Lowery wrote in an e-mail to a fellow director on March 31, commenting on an internal file that was being widely circulated inside the service. Just to be fair.
Two days later, a news Web site reported that Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, had applied to be a Secret Service agent in 2003 and been rejected.
That information was part of Chaffetzs personnel file stored in a restricted Secret Service database and required by law to be kept private.

The Mafia would be proud of the Feds..It’s time to fire about 75%
Hang 75%, incarcerate the rest.
Lowerys toast.
Secret Service used to be a respectable organization. Thanks Obama!
Edward Lowery needs to be FIRED!! If not in front of a FIRING SQUAD!!!uh...just to be fair. THESE files are supposed to be SECRET!
Trump`s Pen And Phone should order the whole EPA to count blades of grass for 8 years.
I guess they got back at him for his questioning BABY KILLERS!!
So a fraud had the tables turned. Oh my heart bleeds. Yea that’s a real shame. I feel so bad for him after he screwed so many conservatives at the bidding of his masters.
Some very unflattering stuff in my file too and not just related to these three incidents. Almost all of it was innuendo, here-say and guilt by association from sources blacked out.
I'm willing to bet that if I could see the sources, they were almost all libtard nazis who chose to be offended by an opinion I may have expressed. Nothing more than that.
Most of it was based on things I did or said before I was 28 (the year I got married) and may have led a somewhat wilder life than compared to today.
Still, if they had made a movie about my sex life during that era, it would've been rated "G", at worst "PG-13."
SS Motto: "Worthy of Trust and Confidence"
or "Wheels up, rings off"
or "What ever?"
EVERYONE involved in circulating and reading the CONFIDENTIAL files and documents needs to be TERMINATED. Will they do it? Of course not, they’ll be promoted after “serving” a period of extra paid vacation (aka administrative leave) that doesn’t count against their yearly leave.
Welcome to the club.
Considering how corrupt this government is, I bet almost all patriots could never pass a government clearance background check, even if they previously held one.
The SS has plenty of dirt to tell about Obama and many of his staff but keep mum. I know - by law.
It does seem that the Secret Service trashed out immediately after Obama came into office. But “just to be fair”, is this impression accurate, or were institutional seeds of destruction already there?
The mechanics of who, what, when and how destroyed the Secret Service would seem a necessary topic for a serious Congressional investigation, and a real journalist’s dream. Of course, that might not be seen as “fair”...
My sex life back then would be rated “L for Laughable”.
Makes one wonder what this administration has on other Congressmen and Senators. It does answer the question if they would use such information or not!
Congressmen, Senators and ..........you forgot one, media.
Indeed, thanks!
How many companies fill their management almost entirely from within, then have very few options to fire them. How many companies fill their CEO, CFO, COO positions (and staff) with people evaluated on their ability to raise political donations.
