Is anyone else surprised, that with the saturation coverage given to the pope’s activities on his visit to America, that there was a news blackout about his seeing Kim Davis at the time it happened?????

“What didn’t he want others to hear?”

If the Pope or a priest meets with someone privately they will keep it private.

Kim Davis is free to recount the meeting as much as she wants but the Pope would not publicly comment on a private meeting.

I don't quite know that he "didn't want others to hear." It's quite impossible he could do this in real secrecy, as if anything done by the Pope in the USA could be done "in a corner."

If I had to guess, I'd guess that he chose to make this a pastoral rather than a political moment. Nevertheless, it became political anyway. PF was asked by a journalist on his return flight what he thought about people refusing to cater to homosexual unions, and he said people have a human right to be conscientious objectors to any participation, even if they are government officials. They have, he said, that "human right."
