I went to a party last week and the homeowner had all artificial grass in the backyard. I sort of liked it. And the family’s children seemed to like it too.
I like the natural rock gardens too. Just not the white rock of the southwest so much. I welcome the native species to my semi-rural property: wild grapevines, poison ivy, stinging nettles, blackberries, virginia creeper, jewelweed, and in springtime, the trillium, jack-in-the-pulpit, mayflowers, etc. All part of nature’s gift to the American eastern decidious forest. Grass? An illegal immigrant!
Bet it was a good party!
I looked into that stuff...it can run between $10 and $20 a square foot.
Like a knucklehead I parked myself on about an acre and a half of lawn...60,000 square feet!...I may as well cover it in Italian marble or whatever...
Maybe the Brady’s were onto something.
Once Hubs and I settle down, this is what we plan to do. A large patio with a space of artificial turf surrounded by trees. A section for a proper garden (irrigated with rain water) and another section for herbs.
The front yard will be gravel and boxes with native plants. More native trees. Almost no maintenance.
That’s just unnatural...
