Paul’s Pandering, and His Attack on Cruz
Conservative Review ^ | 9-30-2015 | Daniel Horowitz

Posted on 09/30/2015 8:06:46 AM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

Does Rand Paul believe the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is paved with endless pandering?

At a time when GOP leaders, led by Mitch McConnell, are engaging in the ultimate betrayal and funding Planned Parenthood and all their butchery, Rand Paul is training his fire on….Ted Cruz! He lashed out at the senator from Texas, predicting that he’s “done for in the Senate.” He seemed particularly perturbed by Cruz calling McConnell a liar, even though the senior senator from Kentucky indeed engaged in one of the most verifiable and public acts of lying earlier this year.

Sadly, the negativity Rand is projecting on Cruz for fighting back against the political enemies of our time is precisely why Paul is “done for” in the presidential race. The voters are looking for someone who has no respect for the current system and those who broke it, not someone who is trying to pander to it. They are looking for not just a pandering vote, but a robust voice. Rand would be wise to watch Cruz’s epic speech this week, which essentially encapsulates all the frustrations all of us have had with the current political system. If Rand has a better way forward, it’s clearly lost on everyone.

Sadly, the negativity Rand is projecting on Cruz for fighting back against the political enemies of our time is precisely why Paul is “done for” in the presidential race.

I heard Rand on Hannity yesterday, refusing to make any negative comments about McConnell, Reid, Boehner, any of the leadership, or about the Republican betrayal of their voters.

I’m sick to death of all the liars and back stabbers in DC. Paul is a sell out and a phony. I pray he gets kicked out of DC.

Going into this election cycle Paul was my favorite based on the hope that he would champion liberty and small government within the context of a Christian worldview. Instead Washington seems to have gotten to him and he’s turned into another borg.

Looks like I’ll wind up voting for some 0.1% 3rd party candidate again. I just don’t see Cruz or Carson or the other remaining candidates really turning things around. Carson is weak on the 2nd amendment (though I don’t think he’d actually attack it, he’d not be a champion on it either), and has other shortcomings despite some great strengths. And as for Cruz, his attack on Carson over the Muslim president thing still has me puzzled and wondering what he got hit on the head with.

Perhaps because he is a double agent appeal to the electerate as a outsider , but secretly he is one of them.

Hope the Rand Paul supporters wake up to this panderer and actually see the phony Rand Paul really is.

I heard Mark Levin explain that a reporter presented the Carson comment to Cruz in such a manner that caused Cruz to respond about what is in the constitution. Carson was only stating his opinion.

Rand Paul is angry at Cruz because it exposes his ties with the corrupt leadership of McConnell, et al. He is hoping to drum up anger at Cruz for being bold so people will not see what he, himself, has been doing.

Unfortunately, Cruz is not successful, but that is no reason to not make the effort. It calls attention to the fact that the leadership is anything BUT conservative. And a note to Mr. Paul...You don’t cave on an issue because you don’t have the votes. You stand, anyway. Eventually more people will join you. When you cave, then others will be afraid of being left standing alone and courage flees. This is the lesson that Reagan taught and Cruz seems to understand. Paul is an acolyte of McConnell. He is too closely associated with him, in my opinion.

Somehow, we are told, if we just make some compromises, the left will also give a little. Can anyone recall a time when this happened? No, because it has NOT happened. So, Cruz is right. Better to go down on a sinking ship as a stalwart patriot and defender of the right than to cave and go down as a traitor on a ship that is going to sink anyway. Giving the left the means to take the country down is NOT a winning solution, Mr. Rand Paul.

I would vote for Cruz in a heartbeat. No matter if he soft-soaped one of the thousands of “gotcha” questions he’s been given from the hostile media, I know, in the context of the entirety of his career and his words, that he is not pro-Muslim, anti-American, or anti-Christian.

Many of his tactics have caused people to question him.

On Hannity, Paul seemed to be thrilled that he had the student body support of 15 colleges in Iowa.

I thought, what the heck? All he can triumph is 15 colleges in Iowa, when Cruz has nationwide support from all sectors?

The same Iowa college students who show up at CPAC to make people think he has more support when he actually doesn't?

Goodbye Rand Paul.
